Location: Massachusetts | Gorgeous Cobalt Blue Millenium. REALLY nice condition - no issues. SUPER Clean, shiny and plays like a dream. Original case has some scuffs and scrapes but is in great shape - all latches work, inside is great. Action is very low which is how I like it. New owner may want to raise the action a bit. Two shims are under the bridge and the one I removed is in the case pocket. This guitar has not been played much and it's a shame. Asking $1,800.00.
Thanks,
Bob

As has been discussed they were made for a big Japanese distributor but some are floating around in the US. Originally I thought they were going to make 1,000 but I don't think they reached that number.
And you get ALL 9 planets.

Originally I thought they were going to make 1,000 but I don't think they reached that number. There was an OVATION 20th Century model (also with the planet inlays) made for the Japanese market. http://www.ovationtribute.com/Catalogues/2000_Century_Jp_Catalog/2000_Century_Jp_Catalog.html But, they are wood top Ovations not carbon top Adamas. And I thought the ADAMAS Millennium was made for the USA market??? From an archived post from jimdahl (04/17/02) John Budny replied: http://ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=15969&posts=14&highlight=Millennium&highlightmode=1#M222898 "We built about 75 of the Millennium guitars they had a retail price of about 3200.00. I say about because they were never in price list or catalog. This was a low production limited edition piece really cool looking to as you know." John Budny Customer Service Manager Ovation Instruments Uniqueness and rarity aside, they sound wonderful! imho I'm keepin' mine!! |

Looks like the one on sale here is the "universe" model from this catalogue which says Adamas on the headstock.
I am just amazed by the beautiful guitars people are selling here, I REALLY need to win the lottery and buy them all!

Good catch. But, the Adamas in the catalog has 20th Century inlayed on the 5th fret... not Millennium.
A little hard to see in the for sale photos maybe, but it's inlayed with Millennium. Other tells - the Universe Memorial model in the catalog has a SMT top (CVT on Millennium) and single piece blue epaulets (multi-piece woods on Millennium) Still, that Universe Memorial is a unique Adamas in it's own right. Wonder how many of those were made.??? |

Location: New Hartford CT | SO - I bought mine right at the factory in 2000. It supposedly had a defect in the top, was returned and became an FRG. We never figured out what the issue was, it seemed perfect.
At that time my connection there told me they were made primarily for Nakau in Japan. Wrong, apparently. Nice to be one of 75 though. |

Strange... if I look at the listing on my iPad, three of the pictures are upside down, if I'm on my PC they are fine. It would take a bigger brain than mine to figure that one out!

Location: Seymour, Tennessee | I'm pretty sure my Cobalt W-597 (which ain't too bad of a second place guitar though is as close as I'll ever get to having one of those.
The Milleniums are definately my dream guitar.
I wish it was feasable to get MS to put me some abalone inlays around the bowl and up the neck of my Cobalt, that would definately be OOOOO-K with me. |

Location: Right now? | Jim, You still have your 1680, yes? I still have mine. It would be one of the last to go. I also, have the Millenium, which I LOVE ... I love the cutaway AND the wider nut width! May you enjoy it for many years! Willa

Location: So Cal | Thanks guys. Yes Willa, I still have the 1680 and I agree...it would be the last to go. In my opinion, nothing else (so far) comes near the sound of the 1680.
Oh by the way Willa, you started me lusting for a Mill-CB several years back It was a real treat when I opened the case. The inlay work and overall finish is stunning. It plays easy and Bob K was being modest in his description of the guitar. Another keeper.
As far as giving a review on the Millineum, I am not really qualified. The few Adamii I own are different from each other in sound and feel. I enjoy each one of them. |

Location: Right now? | Jim, I agree; each Adamas, even amongst the same model numbers, are different in sound, feel, etc. I love mine even more than my Martins and Taylors, which are also very awesome. I do love my M & T's though, too, ha. The Millenniums (which I mis-spelled last post ~ it's two "L's" and two "N's") ... ha is really a special git, me thinks. I wish you much enjoyment with them! | Wow. I recently spent a lot more than 1800 on one of these sweet looking birds, so I hope there's rapid inflation on Mill CBs. I guess it depends on how we think of value. I wanted one for a long, long time but they so rarely come up for sale. I won't say what I spent on mine, but if someone wanted to buy it from me I don't even think there's a realistic number I'd consider at this point. That's how badly I want to keep it, and how highly I value it as a work of art.
One time I ended up in an in-person auction situation with another buyer and couldn't compete so it slipped away. That time, I was at a guitar shop and someone traded one in on credit for another guitar and me and this other guy saw that trade go down and things got super awkward, especially for the guy who just traded it in for credit and realized he'd have gotten a lot more from two people within fifteen feet of him. All that was missing was the fast talking auctioneer and a gavel. Well, and about a 1200 more than I had in my bank account at the time. The ad hoc auction was going well for me at 50-75 dollar increments and then this guy just freaks out and drops a number 1 grand higher than we were at. We all stared at him and I left feeling dejected. They aren't making any more of these. $1800 two years ago isn't a steal; it feels like highway robbery compared to what I watched one of these go for.
If anyone else feels like selling theirs for around 1800 bucks, please pm me.

Good luck in your search. It does seem as if the value on this model has risen lately. |

Location: SoCal | I have 15918, bought from an OFC'er in March of 2004. Originally checked out the SMTs and CVTs before I ventured into the textured top. Millennium is the only one of the SMT and CVTs that I kept. Balance, projection, and resonance is great. Several other owners have reinforced my observation that with EJ-16 strings it has a subtle harpsichordic ring. It stands apart from the other textured, SMT, and CVT models. Great guitar. |

| Good advice on the strings. Not really a 12-53 guy by preference but I'll give them a try sooner than later (once the darn thing finally arrives!). |
