Seriously... I don't dislike the 3-stooges, and some of the gags do make me giggle, but in general, I just don't get it. I like when there are clips of their gags run together like that as then they become funny... but as far as a whole movie... after the 2nd nyuck nyuck, I'm bored already.. It seems to me like a few gags, just repeated over and over.
But they are beloved by millions... so it's obviously me that's missing something. |

When I read the thread title I immediately thought of Red Skelton, Tim Conway, Victor Borge and Bill Cosby. Guess I'm showing my age...
Geeze, I can remember when the air was clean and sex was 'dirty'! :D |

The Carol Burnett show, now that was a comedy team. |

Watching him suffer the first few critical seconds were priceless! |

CAUTION: DO NOT play this at work unless locked in a room by yourself!
It's clean, but you'll make a fool of yourself laughing.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Red Skelton was very funny, and also quite talented. I met him once when I was doing stuff with Danny Kaye. Their sound stages were next to one another at CBS. All I really remember is that he was puking heavily. I recall somebody reporting that he did this frequently backstage before making entrances. Stories like this probably never made it to the press.
I also once had a colleague that went to college with Robin Williams at Claremont Men's. He took control of the classroom with his antics and had to be tossed out mid-semester before order could be restored. He was (still is?) the same in real life as he was doing stand-up. |

My tennis partner's son Larry is a hair stylist who moved to Vegas. When Robin Williams is in town & needs a hair cut, he requests Larry.
I asked if he has to trim Robin's forarms but he would not say. Professional confidence I guess. |

A few of those have allready been mentioned on this "topic thread" Karen mention Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, Tim Conway, Robin Williams and so on. How about Steve Martin? |

I have photos of the interior that were taken by the Smithsonian Institiute. In one of the photos there is a calendar that shows June of 1930. |

The Stooges have stood the test of time. :D
PS you just cant get any funnier than Moe pulling out Larrys hair or Moe taking a crosscut saw and sawing Culys head and saying,,Ohhh LOOOK :D :D :D GWB |

+1 for Jonathan Winters, he's a fully grown child. :)
+1 for Bill Cosby. This guy just comes out on stage, pulls up a chair, sits, and talks. And its side-splitting funny.
+1 for Steve Martin. The Great Flydini.
Cheech and Chong in their day had me in stiches.
And many others, but it gets late.

p.s. Have to add: I'm age 50 now, and when younger I did watch on black and white "all tube" TV: Jack Benny, Milton Berle, Red Skelton, Danny Thomas, and others. |

"It's a Mad Mad Mad World" Newhart, yes! Genius...
IaMMMW's greatest shot was when Duranty 'kicked the bucket'. I had tears and my side hurt after that scene! :D
Lucille Ball has been hailed as a pioneer comedian, but I've always disliked whiners... I've always loved Betty White! ;) |
