So I've been digging around everywhere for more info about this, but figured I'd ask here as well. I have very big hands and really need wider (and chunkier) necked guitars (1 3/4" plus). Thus far I've determined that the Folklore models & some Adams models have wider necks on them, but that seems to be it. Sadly they're all out of my price range. I rarely if ever play my CL as it's just too painful and clumsy for me to try to get around on the 1 11/16" neck.

So, are there any other steel string Ovation models with a 1 3/4" or wider necks? Or are the ones I mentioned above the only ones?

Thanks in advance...

Look for an older model Folklore model 1114 or 1614. They have 1-7/8 necks and sell regularly on ebay for around $500.

I think there is a folklore or two around here up for adoption for less than that..

Check with Mwoody.. there's one there that may not have found a home yet.

You could get one of the older 12-strings and put on 6.

I know I'm violating your criteria for Ovation-only suggestions, but if you hit a dead end (given the price factor), and decide to look beyond Ovation, consider Seagull. Their standard width is 1.8". They have an excellent reputation and are good values. All the ones I've heard (and tried) have been excellent.

I've been thinking of getting my next O' in the 1-3/4" nut. It's only a 1/16" difference form my Legend. I think I could adapt. The Folklores are a little too wide.

I think a 1 3/4" width neck is an ideal size for both strumming and finger picking. More manufacturers are putting out models with that width neck.

Actually I've mostly been considering other makes besides Ovation, but figured that I'd give 'em another shot before writing them off for good. :) I actually used to own a Seagull 12'er back in the early 90's and ironically traded it in on my CL. Great guitars & a helluva bargain, but ultimately I'd rather have a longer scale length (theirs are 24.5" or so). They just came out with two 25th anniversary models which look pretty tasty though.

Thanks again for the great suggestions guys!
