I read a lot about this same issue; it will work when I push the Tune button, then time out; the Manual that came with it does not even mention the OP Pro Preamp; so I have no idea how its suppose to be used, I have emailed Ovation and asked for a Manual, they said they have none, don't know how that could be, a pdf maybe, if someone has one it would help.

By trade and schooling I was an Electronic Engineer, it didn't help that much without a schematic or wiring diagram; but reading so many conflicting stories, I felt that there is more to this; so I checked out all my cables; most of them where TRS or 3 conductor for stereo, I had one old coiled cable with two conductors, or TS cable, so I tried it; and it worked; but I would have never guessed that; so all my training was for nothing; it just came down to using the right cable; I hope that helps someone; this was really bumming me out; but I love this Guitar; I have always wanted an Ovation; now I have one.

Hi Jeff.

I don't know what the question is, but here is a manual...
http://www.ovationtribute.com/Catalogues/OP%20Pro%20Owner%20Manual/...

The tuner will "time-out"... It will also shut-off if you hold the Tuner button down for a bit.
Unless your guitar has an XLR Jack, it just takes regular 1/4" cable... mono.
