Hi all,
Has anyone seen a Adamas Millenium sell recently? I'm trying to figure out the going rate but can't seem to find any done deals.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Bob

Bob,

My local store has one left, they want $2400. for it.
I offered them $2000, but they would not take any less than the tagged price.

Tony Calman used to have one and indicated he may be about to downsize his collection soon. Not sure if he still has it. Just a thought.

Over the last year I've seen 2 sell on ebay for around $1,200 USD, average used condition.

An OFC'er in Alaska forwarded to me a link to a store there last year that had a mint never used Millenium for about $2,200. I was seriously considering buying it as mine had been stolen. Fortunately it was recovered. Maybe they still have it, although it's not exactly local....

Regarding Tony C's Millenium, I believe he intends to keep that one...?

Nice pics on Jerome's site:

Thanks guys - I'm not looking to buy. I was asking because I have one that I may put up for sale. I have no idea what to ask for it - that's why I was asking for completed sales.
I appreciate the responses.

Haven't seen one lately Bob.  IIRC, the last used one I noticed was on ebay back in '09, needed some TLC - had fret wear, pick scratches, small dings, etc... sold for around 1K w/case. IIRC

FWIW,  www.usedprice.com (Orion Blue Book online) is a pay-per-use site that might (???)

have it listed in their Guitars & Musical Instruments section.

And all this time I thought that the best place to get information on the value of Ovation guitars was the Ovation Fan Club.

To the Original Question... It depends on how badly you want to sell it.
It is a rare bird and they won't be making any more of them.
I have seen them go for around a thousand back around 2007 (during the financial panic)...
But that guy in Alaska is holding-out for $2400.

This is an Adamas guitar that is unique both visually and acoustically (almost harpsichordic)...unlike SMT and CVT guitars I have owned or just played. I bought mine back in March, 2004 from an OFC'er for a couple of dollars less than $1,600. Unless it is a financial crisis for an owner, I doubt if you will find one in great condition for less than $2,000.

Problem for the seller is that the market is obviously small (may not be well received in a bluegrass group) because most have never played or even seen one. Problem for a buyer is that there are not many out there for sale. It may be a long wait before one is offered 'low'.

Mine may be available but not less than $2,100.

It may be a couple of weeks before I know the first five or so guitars that I will list. I retired December 1st and sold my company but the new owners are more lame than I thought. Only staying around because they hired my Office Manager and I don't want them to fail since she needs the job. However, as of tomorrow, I may not be available. Time to convert my home office into a music room and workshop. May even bring up my website: JollyTroubadors.com (currently 'parked'.

Whatever, looking forward to playing guitars several hours a day v. just a few minutes one in awhile.

Anyone interested for this guitar or some of my other 60 guitars can contact me at ASCalman 'at' AOL.com. I will probably get down to 25-30 over the next five or so years.

Remember, an older guitar will just get older and I believe harder to find. Harder to find may mean costlier...

The CC Adoption Agency acquired a NOS Mill-CB in April '05. Our landed cost was just under $1600. She hangs next to a Q597-CB that we acquired a few days earlier. Same top, different sound holes, one has bling, one does not. I never looked to see if there is a difference in bracing.

Congrats on retirement Tony!
