I didn't like the result of the last recording so we re recorded the song with a new arrraignment. I borrowed a dobro from a friend of mine for slide work, that I'm really having fun with. I added the slide work to augment the pedal steel played by Phil. This is also the first song recorded with my new Patriot gutiar. So sit back, have a drink, let go of all that stress. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times I had to punch in and punch out on the dobro to fix mistakes, but hey I'm still learning. Harry and Phil just did great jobs playing instruments and vocals, and then Harry did the mix and master and he did one hell of a great job on this one. When I was going through some pictures I ran across the ones Karen and I took in our two trips to Cancun, "Back when I had a job"  Just remembering how laid back and peaceful we felt gave me the idea for the song. It just took a few years to record it. Since I wrote the song it has had 3 different arraignments this one being the final one. I'm really happy you enjoyed the song. Have a drink on me.....hold on I'm out of pesos....

Location: Connersville, Indiana | Designzilla, thank you so very much. A while back ago I read a post about slide guitar, so I watched the videos and started teaching myself. Its a lot harder than it looks on video. I would make mistakes where I was flat, or came off the strings to soon, or it just didn't sound right. Phil told me what he was playing on the steel guitar so I tried to accent what he was doing. I would like to get a dobro some day, I taught myself on my Ovation Elite, and the strings are a hell of a lot lower than on the dobro. It was easier to play on the dobro, and in certain songs I think it sounds great. The one I borrowed Lance had for sale, and it was a National. Can't afford that so I treated it like it was a Rolls Royce while I had it. Maybe someday I'll find one in a pawn shop so I can have one. Did Ovation ever make one that anyone knows of. I'm so glad you enjoyed the song brother, it was real fun to record this song, except all the mistakes I kept making and having to fix, LOL Harry kept teasing me telling me he was getting older by the day and he didn't have that many to spare. But with Phil playing the drums, bass, and steel guitar, and Harry playing the second acoustic, vocals, and then mixing and mastering, and I played my Patriot and then the slide, I think it came out pretty good. I know I have said it before, but my big goal with music is: If I can touch one person with one song, my job is done and I'm happy. Then I try and do it again. I didn't think Harry would mix so much of the dobro in the song but after hearing the first mix I was really happy. Thank you all for your comments
