Location: Central Massachusetts | I didn't want to leave out the carbon fibre fans, so here is another sale I am going to regret. Again, I'd really like to see this Ute find a home within the OFC family. I am the second owner... It previously resided with original owner Tony C. Around 100 of these were made in 2005 as an Adamas version of the FD-14.
Here are the specs:
Unidirectional carbon fibre textured top, black finish with sparkles
Textured, non-cutaway deep bowl
12 frets to the body
1 3/4" nut
5-piece mahogany/maple neck with natural hand-rubbed urethane finish
Slotted headstock with ebony overlay
Gold Schaller tuners with ebony buttons
Ebony fingerboard with Mother-of-Pearl Adamas I-style inlays
Ebony pinless bridge
Original Patented pickup with OP Pro preamp
Exotic hardwood epaulets around Adamas soundholes
Ivoroid binding
Quintad bracing
9158 deluxe hard shell case in excellent condition
This guitar is in great condition, no scratches or dings to mention.

$1750 shipped/insured to CONUS. Shipping elsewhere to be negotiated. Thanks!

Location: SoCal | A number of us waited in high expectation of an Adamas (TEXTURED TOP) that was a player's guitar at a reasonable price. I know that Noah had some problems with his as to cosmetic issues but I believe all of us were amazed at this guitar. As others, this guitar was the typical work of art by Ovation.
My wife described this in an acoustic sound test (to include wood top such as the 1537, FD-14, Custom Legend, several Adamas 1687's, etc.) as surround sound.
Unlike the SMT and CVT lines, this is a true Adamas. I only released it as I have three 1687's (Adamas I), the OFC I, the 47RI, and the pre-production #50 slothead. Tough competition for the UTE with my limited time to play (retiring this April so that will no longer be an excuse or a problem). The following year, Ovation came out with a CMT slothead...nice guitar but at least $1,000 more and not a textured top.
I was advised very early on that I should only buy textured top Adamas. I tried the CMT and SMT but except for the Millennium, I sold the non-textured tops.
Guess the factory found out that the cost (versus sales price) for the UTE did not allow it to be a production line. Our gain!
If you can, get this... |
