Location: Right now? | I have followed directions to the "T" as to how to insert photos. I've re-read the instructions five times. I used to be able to post pics with no trouble ... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? Grrr ... All I get are those little blue boxes with question marks in them. I am sure it is something obvious, but I give up.

(Sorry Willa, I couldn't resist...)
Have you tried checking off the box below the text entry area that sez:
"Attach a file after posting" ?

Location: Texas | Are you trying to post photos you found somewhere else on the internet? The old method (of linking to a URL) hasn't worked for me either. Try downloading the actual image file (probably either .jpg or .gif, NOT the URL) to your computer first. Make sure you know where it is located on your computer. Type your message, check "Attach a file after posting", click "submit" and you will be taken to a screen that asks you to locate the files you wish to attach, select the file(s) (on your computer) and then "submit." (Sadly, I don't think you can "preview" first to see if it works.)
The good news is that you are including an actual copy of the image in your post, so it will continue to appear there even if the original is no longer available at the URL where you found it. (If you look through old threads, you'll see many missing images because the link is no longer active, that shouldn't happen with this method.)
(Of course, Miles may step in and ask me not to include photos this way, but for now, it seems to work for me.)
edit: for clarity… (hopefully)
BTW, once you've submitted your post, if you edit your message, you CAN see the image(s) with "Preview"
Here's one for example:

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I post my photos in Photobucket. Once in Photobucket, I copy and paste the specific photo URL into the code sequence, which I type out just as it appears with the brackets. Then I always check the post through the Preview feature. If the photo is too big, then I, too, get the blue boxes, so I'll resize the photo in Photobucket and try again. It seems to work everytime. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Interesting . . . in the post above, I typed out the sequence as open bracket img = URL close bracket and darn if it didn't read it as a faulty photo attachment, which wasn't my point at all. |

I copied the URL directly from the photo and it's not even showing up as a link over there ...I think I need a Premium account ... Professor, I will try your method using Photo Bucket ... gonna go sign up over there right now ... Standing, that black Elite is gorgeous! Reminds me of my 1537-5 ~ sort of. Thanks, gang.

Unfortunately, it's not mine, it was just the first random image that came up in a google search to demonstrate a point. |

- It's not too bad really. Go to your image in flickr or wherever, right-click and pick a size (I chose large), then right-click again and select "copy image location".
- Then come back here and open the Rich Text Editor.
- Put your cursor where you want the picture to be and click the image icon in the tool bar. (It looks like a tiny tree.)
- Paste your "image location" into the "image url" box and click "Insert".
There you have it. Clear as mud...

Location: Right now? | Thanks so much again, Patch ... I'm thinking the problem might be that I don't have a 'right click' option. My 'puter is a Mac ... Anyhoo ... FWIW, originally I was trying to post these photos over on Arthur's thread in the "For Sale" section, regarding that beat to hell Patriot ... you know, to show those who don't know what the guitar is supposed to look like. These photos don't really do the guitar justice, but they're good enough. Those swirly things are just artifacts and flash marks. It's quite nice in 'real' time. Do you still have yours?

| On the Mac, a "right click" is CTRL-Click. On some of the modern Mac mice, there is a right click function of you click on the right SIDE of the mouse. The newest ones have touch pads and all sorts of things. I like using a 2 button mouse on Macs these days. Any USB mouse will work.

Well, it sorta worked by clicking the "attach file after posting" tab. Size is an issue though

Getting comfortable with the iMac was a bit difficult at first, having used PC's for twenty years ... I am obviously still getting "the hang" of it, but I love my Apple. It is so clean and stealthy by comparison, me thinks. I will never go back, ha.
