| I'm looking at a 12 string online , which is for sale, but , it doesn't have the sticker inside. How that happens I don't know. The serial number sticker is still there. 370626
Here is a photo.
Black Ovation
The placement of the volume control tells me it's not too old. It's on the side instead of the top by the neck. The serial number shows 1988. By my charts I would believe this is a 1755 Custom Balladeer. It's at $499. Is this a fair price for this guitar, if I am right ?

Location: Tennessee | Probably an OP-24 preamp so that jives with the S/N. It could be a CB, or perhaps a Legend. Can't tell if it's a 5 piece neck because of the black finish. Either way, it's a lot of guitar for five bills. |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | It's a 1755. You can tell by the diamond/dot inlays without the neck binding. (If the neck was bound, it would be a Legend. If it had dots only, it would be a standard balladeer.)
These are the stealth guitar of 12-strings; not so much flying under the radar as flying right through it; absolutely fantastic instruments. Are they worth $500? Yes. Can you find them for less with a bit of patience? Yes again. I've seen them go with a case for under $400 more than once. For that reason alone, I'll never sell mine.
A new case will be around $100-$150 depending on where you are. (The last tiime I had my local store order one, about a year ago, it ran $120 .)
I've had my trusty 12'er for over 25 years now, and it is my sentimental favorite. It is also the easiest playing 12-string I've ever played, PERIOD.
Mine's a burst though.

| Does anyone know if Guitar Center will haggle ? The story on this one was that a guy ordered it from another GC ,used page, who told him it was in "perfect" condition. When it arrived it was not with out some small marks and pick scratches. He was upset about it and they give him his money back. I don't know what percent they mark up used guitars. |

Location: Right now? | It's a gorgeous guitar ... and then what Patch said! I don't think Guitar Center will haggle much, but you can return the guitar if you don't like it. They give you thirty days. I'd TRY to haggle; ask them to at least throw in a decent gig bag.  Willa

Location: Texas | If it is a good sized GC, there is a possibility they have an O case in the attic.
I scored a really nice 335 case from there for next to nothing. They were happy to get it out of inventory...and they really didnt know they had it, until they looked for one. |

Sunburst Slothead
I don't see a label , so I haven't called. The top of the head seems larger than the basic Ovation Pacemaker, which is what I was thinking it was, at first.

Location: Jet City | John, that's a Pacemaker 12 fret to body slothead that I talked about before.
I happen to have one of those. My Elite was in for repairs, so I picked it up to fill in while she was gone. I was thinking of using it with an alternate tuning, but I might be persuaded to let it go.
It would be within your 'budget' too. |
