Some of the best Ovation sounds! We tried it once.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DUNKTXNEtI&feature=plcp
Our (delayed) CD will feature Jerry Goodman on an acoustic medley of "Meeting of the Spirits" and "Birds of Fire" a sketch of which is found here: http://www.sonicbids.com/2/EPK/?epk_id=89995#audio

Gracias! (I have no shame, obviously, in hijacking your nice post for self-promotion... but I can't wait to get Jerry Goodman to record with us on the short, concluding tune "Echoes of Vishnu" and the longer suite "Outer Sunset".) There is a story behind this Valentine's Day Concert you've posted: poor Larry Coryell was deep in alcohol hell at the time and was "fired" in favor of Di Meola. He missed, therefore, the great crossover success of "Friday Night in San Francisco" just two years later. Most painful event of his career. The good news is that he overcame and lived to tell about it. He is now a hale and hearty 69, playing his *** off! Interestingly, Larry credits Herbie Hancock with setting him on the healing path of a Buddhist discipline that he practices to this day. There is a song about this moment: "No More Booze!"

dobro - great sound! I'm a huge mclaughlin/mahavishnu fan as well. Good to hear Jerry Goodman is out doing some more stuff, haven't heard his name in a while and haven't seen him play live for quite a few years. Unaware of Coryell's alcohol problem back then, he is such an excellent guitar player. I'll be seeing him in san francisco with jimmy cobb and joey defrancesco, so that will be a real treat.
