Hi
I'm Al & I am a guitar enthusiast and play with The British Beach Boys in the UK
My question is about a fretless B768-X bass
I have not found much info on these so could they be rare and where would I find the serial number so I may date it
Many thanks
Al

Hiya Al,

Your bass is rare in one particular respect: The "-X" marks it as a custom build.

I know little about the bass lines from Ovation, so others will have to nail down the details for you, but pictures always help.

As far as the serial number goes; it could be on the oval label, on a smalll white sticker in the bowl near the neck attachment, or stamped on the back of the headstock. It should be a six-digit number.

You can go HERE to figure out its manufacture date. (Just be sure to use the drop-down menu to pick the "6 Digit" option.)

Hi Al,

I would think the serial would be on the headstock, but then again, I've never owned an Ovation acoustic bass.

As for any other info, yours is probably the same as any other B768, just without frets.
