My friend Barb and I are huge fans, so when she won a chance to go meet Brandi at the local radio station, she invited me as her guest. There were a few people there, but not many. It was very intimate...
She played 3 songs off her new album... I HIGHLY recommend her, go buy it!

All 3 songs were fantastic. I would have recorded them all, but I wanted to relax and just enjoy the scene. It's not often you get a chance to see one of your favorite singers give you a performance from 5 feet away.
She went out on a limb with this one. Her last 2 CDs being produced by T-Bone Burnett and Rick Rubin, this album was really all Brandi and the Twins.

Got Brandi's songbook for Father's Day, but don't have her new album yet. The alarm came on this morning with "That Wasn't Me". It's getting lots of play time on our local radio stations. It sounds like an Adele song when it starts out, but my wife and I agee that Brandi is better.

Mark, I was a bit worried when I found out she decided to produce herself. I'm sure either of the 2 producers from her past albums would have made it very different. You gotta give the gal a lot of credit though, I think it's pretty ballsy to follow behind Rick Rubin and T-Bone Burnett.
I like most the songs, but there are a couple that don't do much for me. Not too into the one that sounds like a new aged Enya tune specifically, though I like that she recorded the croaking toads and creaking crickets sticking a mic out at Bear Creek there.
Lot less drums it seems on this album, so I wonder if her lil drummer gal is gone. She wasn't at the promo. Too bad if so, I liked her... she was spunky. The cello player is now joined by a fiddle player too. She announced him as their newest member there at the station.
We'll be seeing her with the symphony again this year. And maybe the Zoo if she does any shows there. She sells out any venue she plays out here, don't know how she does in the rest of the country though.

I just got back from her promo at the Record Exchange in Boise. Just her and the twins. They did about 5 songs, including a CSN cover of Helplessly..., which was very well done with one guitar and 3 voices. I really like that kind of "concert", rather than a big production. I like the fact that I can hear every note and nuance, even though the acoustics probably weren't the best.
I'm not going to her concert tonight, partly because I'm not crazy about the venue, but also because we'll be seeing her with the Seattle Symphony after Thanksgiving. We'll have to link up, Damon, if we have time.
