I was attending the Atlantic Design and Automation show in Philly yesterday and spied this...

What you see below is an Ovation guitar played (fretted, picked, and strummed) by Clippard pnuematic (air) cylinders. They painted the interior of the bowl white so the model is unknown. Supposedly is can play "Stairway to heaven".

Neat! It's sort of a real-life version of those imaginary 3D animated instruments on the Animusic DVDs.

Was the pneumatic operation controlled via computer programming?
