Hey all!

I recently bought my first Ovation and am having a great time playing it.

I was wondering though, how many shims are under the saddle direct from the factory? I know the owners manual says one to three but generally, how many are there.

Mine seemed to have only one, which I removed but, I'd like the action a little lower. Is it unusual to have only one or should I go looking for more?

Thanks in advance!

I've had 'em come with two shims (one thin, one thick) and three shims (two thin, one thick).

But adding any shims would increase the saddle height and raise the action, not lower it. ??

Are you certain the neck is correctly adjusted?

Don't worry about shims unless you need them to raise the action a bit. Like you, I have lowered the action on most of mine a bit.
