it is near mint and sounds great...I put new strings on, tuned it up and WOW! This is how an Adamas I is supposed to sound!

And, Wayne Henderson has worked his magic and I got the '48 D-28 back this weekend as well...yes, it's had a hard life but it has been played and has fully opened up and is the cannon you have always heard about! Awesome guitar!

| That D-28's in good shape for being 60 years old (better shape than some of us). Bet it's an absolute tone monster. The 1687's no slouch either. Different flavors, all good. Congratulations! |

That's where one was originally; we reamed it out slightly by hand using a carbide drill bit, and hand tightened the new strap pin. Actually it's in a better position than on the side of the heel where so many put it: the grain is stronger along the heel spine. The factory does not include one, but most owners/players add them post purchase, but usually on the heel side. Martins are not impervious to vibration from having the headstock/tuners striking an imovable object: and an improperly mounted strap button can cause a major problem...my former '69 D-28 suffered that very accident: it was expertly repaired by Don Teeter in '78. Lessons learned..... |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | The 1687-7 was a very popular guitar at Amelia last week. I was very proud to have Matt Smith use it in his concert at the Frisky Mermaid on Saturday night. I was amazed at the sound of this 27 year old as Matt put it through its paces. Cliff also enjoyed playing this at the group concert session. With every day that goes by this guitar becomes more and more my favorite Adamas 6 string. With the arsenal of Adamas and Ovation guitars I own, that says something about this guitar. Thanks to all who gave me a chance to hear what this guitar can do! |
