Location: Utah | I told the wife we're getting a tax refund this year. WTH was I thinking? Now she wants to pay down the credit card. Those dreams of a custom Adamas will remain on hold.

Location: Boise, Idaho | SWMBO handles the finances (and almost all of the household duties) so she knows what comes in and goes out. My birthday is April 11, so most years any birthday fund goes to the IRS. The last 2 years we've had decent refunds. This year I had to agree that the refund needs to go toward painting the house. Turns out it will cost about twice what it did last time, which also happens to be twice the tax refund.
Oh, well. The OFC guitar is the nicest guitar I'll ever have and it was a birthday surprise about 5 years ago.
I also noticed that a footswitch for the GDEC and a Huttlinger DVD disappeared off my Amazon wish list, so there will be guitar stuff for birthday presents. |

Location: New Jersey | Hey Mark, My Birthday is the 13th. I'll raise a "bowl" to you! My wonderful wife also handles the finances (she's an accounts mgr. at work so she's a natural.) I usually stick to the One In One Out rule, so she doesn't give me too much grief. Also, when she gets something she wants that's in the "pricier" range, she never follows the OIOO rule...which I remind her of. That usually gets me to stretch the rules at times! muhahahahaha! |

Not at all, it may be a North American thing.
Or just seriously practical. In our case my wife's a bookkeeper and I'm a spendthrift so I told her 37 years ago she was in charge of the money. Can't get in too much trouble when I only have my allowance to play with.... :-)

Location: Boise, Idaho | When we met Karl in Germany, I introduced my wife and he said "Ah, SWMBO!" She agreed.
The other day she said she didn't begrudge me any of my guitars. That's bretty big, since there's about 16 down there now. |

Maybe Rumpole was referring to H. Rider Haggard's "She": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She:_A_History_of_Adventure
My wife used to read Haggard's books. Maybe she learned too much! |

Yeah, that's where I first heard it and, other than that, the only place I've seen the term used is on this board - make of it what you will...lol |

It's more like the little devil whispering in one ear, and a little angel whispering in the other. I still have free choice, but the wife is the voice of reason reminding me of adult responsibilities. |
