Hi...I am trying to locate an original Ovation machine head for my Viper. It's the Low E tuner. Anyone know where I can get one?

One of the moderators should be along shortly to give you access to the other forums. In the event you don't get a response, you should post this question in the "For Sale" forum (once you get access). Not everyone can post to this forum, only new members and a few Walmart greeters in training. Good luck in finding the tuner and welcome to the group.

you've been upgraded and I'll move this thread to the wanted forum, but first...

Which original Viper tuners? There is the solidbody and semi-hollow guitars, and there were at least three versions of the tuners on the solid bodies. A picture of the ones you have would be best.

Hi...it's a white (yellow) solid body. Serial number is 11113. I attached a photo of the same ones on another guitar I found online. My camera isn't working right now. Thanks!

Hopefully someone has a spare. Those are pretty rare.

Just a quick pic of what he is talking about.

Do you have any info on what they are called or what I should be looking for? I can't believe how hard they are to find.

I think they were Schaller. They were used on early Ovation solid bodies, note the Ovation logo on them. You could replace all 6 with I believe Schaller M22 offsets (meaning the screws are offset) but the only way you'll find replacements is if someone else upgraded and has spares or someone has some originals tucked away. To make matters worse, with age the plastc on the originals crack and the logos would fall out. Probably why they switched to all metal.

So you're telling me that the best replacement I can find is as hard to find as the original? has anyone used anything else that was successful?

I believe Schaller has replacements that are all metal in their m-22 line. I'm moving this into the General Forum area so more folks can help out.

I may have one or possibly even two, though I'm not sure of it's LH or RH.
I recall a post a long time ago that spoke about the early pegs. regarding the anti-rotation screw(s), weren't some with one screw ?, some were diagonal but opposite of others ? Maybe they were straight across? I don't recall. Maybe I'm thinking about the very early Deacon ones though. I'm away for a few days and won't be able to check until Sunday or so. TJR

The Schaller M6Ns are hard to find, I'm down to a handful with broken tabs. I did a quick search on FleaBay:

Hi, thanks everybody who has chimed in so far. They look to have Nylon casings (I hope that is what you mean) around metal. The one I need is on the left side (Low E). Thanks again!

I just realized that might not make sense. Not sure if there is Nylon at all on these. The casings are plastic. sorry

I did find a partial set and should have at least one for your guitar.
