Anyone know if it is easy to upgrade the rectangular shaped OP 24 pre amp to another, more modern rectangular pre amp? For example, my 12 string Adamas 1685 has an op 24. And while it works fine, I was wondering if there isn't a better sounding pre amp with a built-in tuner I could put in its place.

Thanks.

I have no personal experience changing-out the rectangular pre-amps... But

I believe that the OP-24, OP-24+, OP-24+C, OP-X, and Optima all fit in the same hole.

Or really close.

The OP-24+C and the Optima have real tuners.

The problem would be finding the replacement preamp.

Hi, Jim,
you can upgrade to an OP 24+ or C and also to an Optima. I'm on the hunt, too for an Optima to upgrade my nice 5858-ASW Elite and one for replacement on my Book-Elite, where the volume poti is dead.
