Kinda cool. The Tak doesn't do anything for me. Maybe if she changed her strings....

A lot of seconds in those open chords. It wasn't until I started with the Praise Band that I began to appreciate seconds (sans the third). I'd played them for years as ornamentation without really understanding what they were, but praise music composers seem to use them a lot.

Nancy's solo album "Live at Mcabe's" is outstanding. I think it came out in the late 90s. iTunes has it - definitely worth the $8.99.

If that's addressed to me I have no idea what you're talking about. Dave

No appology or offense, I just didn't understand your comment. The more I read it the more my head hurt. You are 100% correct, it's the player that matters not the guitar. I'm not a Wilson fan but I imagine she can make just about any guitar sound pretty good. Dave

Paul, what strings would you recommend for a Tak cutaway ???

Dave, I got no idea. I just know that I didn't care for the sound of her guitar, and rather than blame the guitar, I'd try new strings first. As a player, Willson is the real deal. I've got the McCabe's recording and it's mostly just her on guitar. She's good.

I've only played one Tak that I liked, and that was the big D size at the NAMM show. Obviously, I need to get out to your house and see what really good Taks sound like....

This is a thread about Wilson, not Taks.

I'm not defending Taks at all. 90% of them sound "average" at BEST. And a good number of those sound like absolute shit. Nothing I'd want to own. Same with Ovation. There's a reason I've sold off over 100 of them. I just get a chuckle when folks form an opinion of how a guitar sounds based on a You-Tube video.

I think this Wilson You-Tube clip sounds like absolute crap. No question about it. To start with I'd say the mic placement is a bit questionable. But that's not the point. The purpose of the video is to teach poor bastards like us how to play the heart riffs.

I thought she was gonna say the idea for the song came from an upcoming "Songwriter's Night" they were performing in!
