Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | Yeah, a pretty poorly laid out auction considering what they are selling and what they paid for them from Christie's at the time.

And just stated how much he expected to receive.
But last time he listed them the bidding went up to $510.
I won't be bidding.

There is a certain degree of cool factor, but a Roy Rogers fan would much rather have a spur, I would imagine, than an Ovation.
Or two Ovations. |

One was a sunburst Glen Campbell Ovation, the other a blond Ovation. Five hours after bidding, he learned he'd snagged the two for $2,800. He paid approximately $4,000, including taxes and fees, to walk away with his prize." |

Location: Route 66, just east of the Cadillac Ranch | At one time I was interested in a celebrity owned Ovation and I asked a very wise man if it was worth the price. He told me, “If you were the biggest __________ fan in the world, and the guitar was TOTALLY original with absolute proof it was his and $____.__ was not a big number to you, then buy it. Otherwise go buy one for $800.00 and pretend it’s his.” That advice has served me well. Now, I just spend way too much on non-celebrity owned guitars. |

Maybe I'm stupid, but this doesn't make sense to me...unless the taxes and fees amounted to $1200? |

Christies = pricey. http://www.christies.com/features/guides/buying/buyers-premium.aspx Either he felt he got them for cheap...or had buyers remorse when he got them. I watched that auction to see what Trigger would go for...and it was soon after those guitars hit eBay. He was attempting to sell them individually at the time. |

Must be among those tek-NO-ledgy challenged listers. amosmoses - 2012-02-26 11:10 AM "Determined to own one of the Rogers' guitars in the July 14-15 Christie's sale, Cesarano held the line for an hour and a half before placing a telephone bid on a lot of two guitars for $3,500. They're both great, early model Os worth a few bucks, but not exactly iconic Roy Rogers "collector" items. I just thought it was interesting trivia that he'd owned a couple of Os. He probably had a couple of nearly every other brand git too. No doubt some makers sent him gift guitars just for the publicity. |
