Sorry if it's been done to death, can't find it anywhere..... AND Sorry it's not an Ovation question either...(Tak forum isn't working and I know there's some of you here!)

I want to raise the action on my Takamine dread (for slide), but then have it back to normal when I want to play it ..um..normally.. :-)

Any ideas?

If you have enough string wound around the post, it is possible to get the saddle out without taking the strings off. There was a video showing this on the Ovation website. You need to get enough slack so you can pull all the strings clear from the saddle.

I think you'd be better just to nominate a guitar as your slide guitar and leave it that way.

Use a metal slide nut attachment.

Search for SLIDE GUITAR NUT on Google or eBay and you'll see some that might work.

Cheers for the replies guys! I'm inclined to agree with Tafkar, leave it as the slide guitar and that's it....

Thanks!!

I've heard of placing a steel rod (screwdriver shaft size) under the strings at the nut to give clearance from the frets. Sounds like it's worth a try.
