No Adamas models (we know the original slotheads are it).
My favorite is the Artist 1621 model, but I will vote for the good old Legend 1617 model, Sunburst. :) |

Right now my current favorite (Adamas included) is the 1537 though. |

And the classic Ovation look. Someday soon, there's going to be a special order for one of those with my name on it..... |

| Early 1117-1/1617-1 pre-K-bar, although I first fell in love with Ovations when I saw/heard a local performer playing a 1619-1 in the late '70s- love da bling (do I really want to sell my 1619?). |

Location: Texas | The Legend 1617 Sunburst should be renamed the Jim Croce model.
They would really make it a Legend naming it after Jim Croce who seems to have never died and who was getting into Ovation big time at the the time of his passing.
Just like the Legend Ltd. is now the John Lennon model, fans would also love to have a limited Jim Croce model. I know I would buy one.

And Bones, that's a helluvan idea, about the Croce model, that we should all push to the people in CT..... |

But the Breadwinner or UKII for the Electrics were both somewhat ground breaking and so "Ovation."
In reality "Ovation" is measured more in a mindset than a particular model.
Build an affordable, great sounding, quality instrument, using forward thinking technique, technology and engineering. |

PS - If there's a little room left over you could squeeze in a Book Ukulele. |

That should be printed up all nice and fancy and hung up at the factory as a mission statement.
Or even better....
It should be used in all their advertising and promotional material. |

Now as to my most cherished, don't ask... I love 'em all, otherwise I wouldn't own AND keep 'em!
My sentimental favorites would be the Pacemaker and Custom Legend. But, day-um, there are soooo many others that proudly hoist the Ovation banner.
The ONE Ovation 'qualified time-capsule' guitar? Sorry, that's like asking which off-spring/G-baby you love the most! |

I'm with Iffy on the 12 strings...Pacemaker, CL, 1758...all three are awesome...
Ovations are just so good it is hard to go wrong no matter which USA model you choose...
I love my other wood boxes, but I would not want to be without an Ovation!
Plug it in! Turn it up! Have a ball! |

Jim Croce,Maury Muhliesen and Glen Campbell are the artists I mostly associate with Ovation guitars. I have wondered for some time why Ovation didn't have a Jim Croce model while Martin did.
OTOH, the common complaint that I have read about signature guitars is that companies charge much more money for a signature guitar that basically are no different than their normal guitars.
Still, it is nice to honor Jim with an Ovation because he and Maury (who should have his own signature guitar IMHO)contributed a lot to music.

It's a donation. The proceeds from Martin signature guitars go to charity. |

sunburst Legend acoustic/electric. Agreed. Would I buy one? I think I may already have something that's real close. |

The VXT. It's useful. In terms of design, the Breadwinner.
Acoustic:
An early Glenn Campbell model, or a balladeer.

Bracing: My '74 1117 has a VT 11 bracing pattern:
the horizontal braces below the sound-hole don't meet, and two longest verticals extend "south east" without meeting the lower horizontal. Nor do they meet a smallish third horizontal in the south eastern corner (as in VT 10). The brace above the sound-hole is just like it is in the VT8 and VT10. |

Because this guitar is so easy to play, she's so nice and its sound is great when plugged in!!
It's probably the first nylon string guitar dedicated to the non classical players.
I love mine.
