I have just registered, and this is my first post. I´ve been checking this board for a while and I would like to introduce myself: I´m a Brazilian Police Officer, 44 yo, and live by the beach in the beautiful state of Alagoas (aka Secret Paradise).
I bought my first Ovation a couple of days ago - a nice W597 Grafite Adamas. I´ve been carrying it around since then and playing as much as I can. My wife just smiles and mumbles: "new toy". Go figure.
Anyway, it is good to be here.
Best Regards,
Miguel :D |

And what a great start an Adamas is for a soon growing and growing collection (I promise, you'll remember my words).
Have a great time around here,

What other guitars do you have and what's your favorite music to play? I usually play Brazilian music, especially samba and Bossa Nova. Now I´m trying my hand on some rock and roll, blues and jazz.
I have a Di Giorgio concert guitar (nylon strings, acoustic), a Cort Source, an Epiphone SG, a Giannini eletro-acustic (also nylon) and a Yamaha APX-T. The Adamas came by accident. I was looking for an American Ovation, but could find only the Adamas between the dozen assorted Celebrities. Since it was in the store for about two years, I got a nice discount. Tough choice.
Alas, life is sometimes hard.
To all of you that are thinking of white sand beaches with a beautiful sea, I have to confess: right now I´m on vacation. Nothing to do except linger under the sun.
Yes, life can be very hard sometimes.
Oh, yes, we are just starting summer here in the Southern Hemisphere.
Cheers and best regards,
Miguel |

Location: Alagoas, Brazil | yes, it is a very nice guitar. My biggest surprise came when my father (who always thought that guitars are for lazy characters that won´t get a real job) heard when I was playing and commented how beautiful it sounded.
Please, mark that I´m not a rich man, even by Brazilian standards. I was saving hard to buy a nice electric-acoustic guitar, because my small Yamaha is, of course, small.
I went to the shop to check on an C778LX they had there. Then the guy asked if I wanted to try the Adamas. I said that I would love to try, but had no money to buy that (the 778 was my absolute financial limit). He said: "try it, then we talk later". What happened was that this Adamas was for more than a year in stock, and they wanted to sell it, but people usually buy guitars for such lower prices that they couldn´t sell it. Then we reached an agreement, and he sold me the Adamas for a lesser price than the Ovation C778LX (a whole hundred dollars less). I had to change the strings, because they were OLD, but the guitar is very beautiful and sounds great. It came with the old OP-50 preamp, but that´s a plus for me.
I will work on a small video and post it later.
Best regards,
Miguel |

And yes, I would be very happy to have any of you fine folks in this board here in my neck of woods. Then we could discuss the real important things of life while resting on the beach.

I was serious about your ability to post pictures, though. Nice pic of a nice looking guitar. |

Miguel, we have fun here. If you've been here awhile and you're not getting picked on, it means nobody likes you.
And we've got a wide group of people here. From lawyers, to cops to private cops to preachers (one who affords his guitars because he's on the pad and another who affords his guitars by doing a lot of funerals -- draw your own conclusions), to engineers, salesmen, you name it. So you see, we sink from the low down to the very low. There's even one guy here who sells gear for a living and never closes.
Go figure...... |

I´ll post my own video as soon as I can figure out a way to produce a suitable one. |

Go figure...... Yes, I noticed that. He prefers to sell nice equipment instead of collecting it  . But I´m new to this forum and I´m just trying to abide by the rules, at least until I figure how I can bend them :D without being caught.
Anyway, I think it is better to stop picking on lawyers, because next step would be to start sharing our Brazilian Special Jokes about Lawyers. That maybe would be considered way off the board standarts.

Rule #1; No Politics. (unless it's so oblique most won't notice.)
Rule #2; Mildy risque is just about okay.
Lewd is rude...there's ladies and the occasional child present.
(and how you get a child as a present is a whole different website) |
