| I'd seen a few vids here and there, of course, but never really sat down and just surfed it.
So to keep it interesting I've been restricting my searches to solo acoustic guys. I started with that Larry Lud guy (whose video was referenced here) and just started clicking on the "related video" links, surfing one to another. Larry can get it done. Most of these other guys cannot. Why in the world do some of these guys post? Perhaps they're spies and there are secret messages embedded in the videos. But I've picked up on a few things:
If they switch the thing on THEN sit down and start to tune - it's gonna suck.
If the mic is in the frame and it looks cheap - it's gonna suck.
If the guy leaves the TV on in the background while he's recording - it's gonna suck.
If the guy hits a couple of strings and they're dead - it's gonna suck.
If he's playing a Yamaha dread with the pickguard that contacts the fingerboard - it's gonna suck (don't know why but so far there is a 1 to 1 correlation).
If the guy is playing a high dollar guitar, this is no guarantee that it's NOT gonna suck
If the guy looks like a biker but has a high reedy voice, it ain't gonna get better - punch the "Suck" button
If the clip is "Wonderful Tonight" there's a real good possibility it's gonna suck.
If the guy reaches for a 12-string - well, it's not a done deal but my hand is on the mouse
If there are any disclaimers at all tagged to the vid - it's gonna, well, you know
Interestingly, I've yet to come across anyone playing an Ovation or Adamas who sucked. Oh, I'm sure they're out there, I just haven't come across them yet.
It's kind of like the early rounds of "American Idol" |

| I've never seen an electric guitar and electric violin playing unison intervals this cleanly.
These people make it look easy.

But it won't make Losov's list though. It doesn't suck. ;) |

Location: Cicero, NY | I found it too, Arthur. And bobbo's right on both counts - it doesn't suck but the topless thing? Talk to Moody and see if he can throw you an old tablecloth...oops, sorry, I mean one of his nice nice Hawaiian shirts. :D |

Steffen Schackinger is amazing. He makes great use of his little finger on the frets. |
