... in one very beat up piece. I'm looking forward to meeting up with Jerome this evening to have dinner and collect his guitar for the long convoluted trip to the Mothership.

The guitar will spend the week with me here in France - a couple of days in Paris, then the 5 hour drive to Lannion - and back at the end of the week. Another night in Paris, then back to NJ. At some point in the near future TBD, I will drive the guitar up to the Mothership for a well deserved spa treatment.

Now... I'm taking a nap!

Enjoy France, Mike. A gorgeous part of the world. And I hear some of the people are pretty ok too! ;)

If Jerome is a representation of the people there, I can say they are great! Enjoy, Mike, and give Jerome my regards.

hey mike! i am glad to hear you arrived, even if a bit beat up. what, did you look the wrong way at one of the flight attendants? she probably enjoys ultimate boxing.

get rested and give jerome a hug for us. please do not let that flight attendant get hold of jerome's guitar en route home.

I'm back home!!
It was great to be in Paris with Mike and his wife and it was a great pleasure to have a dinner together.
They really are wonderful people and very indulgent with my English... :D

The proto #11 is now in good hands so I can sleep quiet!! ;)

Merci.

Jerome,

Don't worry about your English. Most of the people on this list are American and the mutilation they do to the language is too awful to mention.

Yeah, I ordered something in (I thought) not too bad Italian, and he responded in English. I obviously made some mistake that only English speakers do, or most of the people speaking bad Italian had English as their language.

My worst one was ordering a skim cappuccino in an Italian cafe. His response was Pffft! and a dismissive upward nod of his head. Translation: We don't do that sort of sh*t here buddy!

Jeff - no room for pastries. The food is absolutely filling here!
Stephen - I'm skipping the belt altogether.
Randy - my wife is on this part of the trip with me, so the flight attendant would be the least of my worries!
Bob - I read your PM. I was thinking exactly that. As soon as I know when, I'll get in touch.

Jerome - thank you SO much for the lovely dinner! You're english is just fine. I can't wait to see your dream guitar finished to your specifications. It will be worth the wait.

Here is a pic of Jerome and I and the proto. I will try and take some pics at each step along the way so Jerome can have a record of its travels.

You all know this already, but let me say again what a GREAT guy Jerome is! He was a very gracious host to my wife Amy and myself - took us to a nice dinner and we inundated my wife with Ovation talk and guitar specs. She loved it.

Also - thanks to Guigite for the warm invitation to his home in Bretagne - not far from where I'll be working the next few days. I won't be able to meet him this time, but will most definitely make time the next time I am there. Just check out his sig-line!

The prototype is safe and sound with me here at CDG airport. I just saw my wife off and am awaiting my ride to Lannion.

As all of you who travel for a living know, it can be very stressful - especially international travel. It makes it so much better when you know someone there. Because of the OFC, I can say that about most of the world.

What a GREAT adventure story!

Back when many (if not most) of us were still in school, who would of thought that in the 'near' future we would:

meet cyber friends around the globe
receive wonderful gifts (Jerome's CDs)
arrange/excecute a fond show of appreciation
and then have a guitar personally escorted across oceans?

What an awesome 'collection' of wonderful folk!

Good news and bad news.

The good news: Jerome's guitar made to my home in NJ 100% safe and sound. I walked on to the plane with it, stuck it in the overhead and that was the end of it. The only issue was one bitchy american woman who said "THAT's carry on luggage?". I had many replies in head, none of which I let out. Depending upon my work schedule and the weather, I will plan the next leg of the trip within the next week or two - the drive up to Connecticut - about a 4 hour drive.

The bad news: when I got home and came up to my office/music room, I immediately noticed that my '05 collectors had suffered the dreaded "bridge pop". As those who have suffered through this before know, it is VERY disturbing! It looks like there will be two guitars making the trip to the mothership. It's not under warranty so it double-sucks!

More to come...

Thanks Serge. The good news is that it looks like a very clean break, so I'm sure the MS can put it back together with little hassle.

Greg - no, not enough time to arrange anything more elaborate than a dinner. I did get an invitation from Guigite to visit him - he lives in the same region I was travelling to for work. I didn't have enough time this trip, but will make the time next time I go.

Mike,

I'm sorry to hear what's happened to your Collector's!! :(

As I told you, I wish that you'll have enough time to come at home next time.
I'm better in cooking than to play guitar...

Thanks again for all!!
