Yuk I thought, stuck some 10s on there, nice!
Then after a while I felt that the strings were too light (weedy volume and the strings just didn't seem to fight back enuff).
So on some 11s went, ah nice!
After a few more days I'm finding that I want even more 'resistance' so 12s will go back on there tomorrow.
And the moral?
Mother knows best! ;) |

Y'know, the Battle of Altimarlach that was fought on 13th July, 1680 between Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy and George Sinclair of Keiss over the ownership of the Girnigoe Estates.
Little bit of Old Country history... |

BTW Dweez, what's up with 10's? That's a manly guitar with a manly neck, at least you could put 12's on it, minimum. Cliff!!! |

And I don't want it to happen again. |

So experiementing with different gauge strings is all part of that.
There does seem to be a weird my strings are heavier than your strings sillyness that I just don't get. Some players use light strings and get fantastic results, that's all I'm after, good tone, good technique, good music, the guitar is merely the tool.
I am not too concerned either about acoustic volume as I'm mainly interested in recording and performing with amplification. |

I used to use 13s after a while necks don't like those I´m thinking of using 13´s on mine, but I checked everywhere and there´s no official position from the factory about it. What happened to you?
Oh yes, mine has 11´s and it is ok, but the sound is a bit wimpy, especially on the bass side.
