Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Delivered at 12:05 pm; unpacked at 12:06pm; played for the next 45 minutes nonstop...
Pictures quickly at 1pm (I'll take detailed later: rain/ice outside...guitar is mint, I'd like to keep it that way)...
Here is the Album: Book Elite
Moody told me this was a cannon...what an understatement...It is hands down THE FINEST OVATION GUITAR I HAVE EVER HEARD...
Only one word describes the sound: WOW!
Ok, two more: OH MY!
Dave, I can not thank you enough...worth the wait in every way...and thanks for not painting the case red and white.....
Oh yeah, there is one other thing that was part of the packing material in the case:
I laughed for ten minutes!
Thanks Toby!

Location: SoCal | I played that guitar before the neck was glossed and after. Before, the guitar sounded ok but not great. After, well, it sounds outstanding. Draw what conclusions you will.
By the way, it had the truss rod cover on both times I played it so don't let Toby tell you that that made a difference. It was definitely the glossed neck....... |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Now that I have had a chance to play and get familiar with it, here are just a few comments on the guitar: The first thing I noticed is that the Book Elite has a resonance I have not heard before in any wood topped Ovation: even in my 87C which was a great sounding guitar...this guitar is extremely responsive and rich sounding...it plays fantastic and is in mint condition, even the case. I love the Optima preamp...first one I've had...The tuner is first rate and the notch filter is very useful: the plugged in sound is wonderful…the workmanship is top notch and the guitar is sonically and visually stunning...the grain in the top is tight and has some delicate feathering…the gloss neck is fantastic…I love it…and the faux GC TR cover is a nice reminder of the celebrity that put Ovation on the map and it is not out of place on this special guitar IMHO….
I am not sure how many were made...anyone here know?
There is one of these FS on the Bay right now...if anyone here can get it, they will not be sorry...and the price is nice…
Now, this only needs a certain former gas station CEO’s signature…lol |
