Location: Colorado | I have recently purchased an Ovation Adamas ME-II 12-string from Instrumentpro.com. I had an issue with a previous guitar and returned it so they gave me an INCREDIBLE deal on the new 12. When the guitar arrived I noticed the top was wavy. I called Ovation and they said the carbon composite tops can show the brace lines due to the layering and this was fine. I just got back from having the frets dressed and the luthier said the fret material was VERY soft and required 1500 sand paper to smooth. He stated the frets would possibly wear faster than normal because of this. Is it possible I was sold a factory second as new or do these issues sound normal for an Ovation that lists for over $3000? |

Does it have a lifetime warranty or just 5 years.
I understand an FRG only has 5 year warranty. |

The ME II is a fine guitar and I agree with the question: if its a new guitar, why would you need the frets dressed? It came from the factory perfect I'd bet... |

The next time I have an issue with anyone's advice regarding my guitar or anything for that matter, I'm bringing it to Beal for the go ahead frontal assault. I'm not using sarcasm here either. Beal, you are the man. |

Location: Colorado | Wow, some of these replies are actually about my guitar! Just kidding, banter away. I am in Golden and the luthier is, DON'T LAUGH, Edward Dick. He works for Pickin' Parlor in Arvada. I will say that I like my action LOW and I tried adjusting the bridge lower by removing shims and it worked but I got a little buzz. He not only lowered the action even more but got the slight hump out of the neck and got rid of the buzz. The job is excellent and I love the way it plays much better than I did from the factory which makes me think this guy knows what he's doing. Why would he say my frets are soft for no reason? |

Esp on Ovations...those frets last much longer than other makes I know...
And there is no better authority on Ovation/Adamas than Beal...Al would agree I'm sure... |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Say jdalton, there's a few of us members here in the Denver metro area and every now and then, we get together, eat a little, lie a lot, play some guitars, drool over Stephen's baritones and Collings and Mike's effects collection. Stay in touch and we'll put something together in the spring. |

Location: Colorado | Welcome jdalton. You know Stephen hooked me up with a place in Denver that I took my Adamas to for a fret refresh and setup. They did GREAT work and charged me a reasonable price. I think even Beal would like them. :) Although these guys don't usually deal with Ovations they were impressed with the quality and playability of the guitar.
Thanks for joining us! |

If it is not a traditional brand/bluegrass guitar/mando instrument or a smaller newcomer (Collings, Rockbridge,Santa Cruz, etc) they tend to show it no respect.....although they do carry Taylor so we know they aren't perfect! :D |

I wouldn't ever make that leap, Mark. Chill! Just another failed attempt at humor on my part. "Smartass" was the word I was thinking of, but it just didn't fit the setup. |
