I know this thread did the rounds a few years back, coz its in the Archive. It was before I 'arrived' here, and I thought it might be interesting to ask the question again.
I'll kick it off.
In Australia, we're verbally lazy, so we shorten everything and throw in a 'z' somewhere. My real name is Murray, so I'm Muzza or Muz. If your name was Gary or Perry, you'd be Gazza (Gaz), or Pezza (Pez) Jewels Mom (Karen) would be Kazza or Kaz.
We also tend to give people names that are completely opposite to who/what they are. Eg someone with red hair invariably goes by the nickname of 'Bluey'.
What about you?? |

However, down your way, I know a 'muzzo' is a musician so thought that was where your nick' came from. Just a fortunate coincidence I guess.
In a delete bin tonight I saw an Aussie movie I really liked. \'Garage Days\' What if you finally got your big break and you just plain sucked?
There are better movies. But it's good fun. |

I haven't seen Garage Days yet, I'll look out for it.
So is Fillhixx really Phil Hicks? |

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when its handle finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his hair be sparse.
Love's not Time's fool, though thickening 'round the middle
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no llama ever loved. |

Mine is derived from the name of the element Crustonium (specifically the isotope Ci-69), which occurs immediately prior to Illudium Pu-39 in the periodic table of elements.

I am actually a dream that a butterfly had once during the Ming Dynasty. I'm not at all here right now.
no, too.....gay.
This was my response to being called an empty mindless hick.
hmmmm, not bad.
Truth is, in one of my semi-retired periods (my staff wouldn't let me in my store for a couple years..) rather than spend time at a strip bar or the golf course, I hung out at the video arcade. In those days the high score register would only take three characters so...FIL. Later, they'd take more characters so...FILHIX. Then that wasn't enough characters for the email service so...fillhixx. (a little e.e. cummins influence there in the end.)
BTW: Capt. Lovehandles, nice Shakespeare reference. |

The computers had to have names so we started using Stooges - Moe, Larry, Curley, Shemp - and ran out of names. So we switched to japanese monsters. After watching a bunch of Godzilla movies with my kids there were plenty of names for the computers. Since it was my department my computer was Godzilla. When I got big new computer I called it Designzilla. I liked the name and have been using it since about 1988.

Y'see, When you are in your later 40's, you are an Old young-man because you are often older than your peers but not really ancient. [hence, Old Man Arthur]
BUT! Once you turn 50, you cross a threshold and become a Young old-man.
I have since crossed that threshold, but I ain't changing my name. |

I sure looked long and hard at those big Boss Hogs at a Harley rally in Texas a few years back. They're amazing . . . a built-up Chevy 350 with no transmission, just one gear. No need for anything more because there's still sufficient torque to spin the wheel off the line. The only thing that concerned me (besides the price) was those fat tires and their obvious implication on steering. Nonetheless, they're impressive machines. A real demonstrative expression of the "a big engine is good, so a giant engine is even better" theory of motorcycle power dynamics. We need some stories here. Oh yeah, sorry, wrong forum. |

Didn't realize we were using handles when I signed up ... so I didn't. At my age, I have trouble remembering my name, never mind a handle.
Then again, it's been said that I put the "duh" in Floriduh.

It seemed back then, for some reason, that Thursday nite was the big party nite, more so than Friday. It was also payday for me and my buds at work. Well after calling out sick from work on a countless number of Fridays, and being called on the carpet by supervision about it, my co-workers started calling me(Dave) and Friday- "FRIDAVE". Oh yea, there were quite a few "Mondave's" also during that era of my life ! |

Back in the mid-90's, I was playing around here locally, and I didn't want a certain ex-girlfriend to know of my whereabouts. So, I decided to come up with a stage name. Our bassist at the time picked it out and it stuck - "Tragedy James". I HATED it, but it worked.
Fast forward a couple of years, when I get all hooked up to the internet, and I needed a nickname for the various message boards that I frequent. Somehow or another it became "trag-o-caster" as a blending of "Tragedy" and "Telecaster"
I currently do not go by "Tragedy James", however I still use "trag-o-caster" for all of the guitar-related messageboards. I don't know why. |

| Well, there are several reasons for my name:
1. It's a play on the song "Guitarzan" by Ray Stevens
2. My middle name is Ann
3. I love the song "Annie's Song" by John Denver
4. Although I only have one guitar right now, it is actually my third guitar. My first was a piece of crap Memphis electric, which I traded in for a Stinger SSX electric by Martin.

OK, I love and cherish our nation's history and heritage. So the 'two if by sea' is a no-brainer. At that time there was no 'three if by air'...
C - aka sea, due to my love of the waters
C - first letter of my last name
On a couple of music related sites I added 'sharp', '2ifbyCsharp'. But I knew it wouldn't fly here...
Mike, CrimsonLake, laid the 'Iffy' nomer on me a while back. And it stuck... Thanx Mike! |

I was "Mickey J" as a pup because Grampa Mike was "Big Mike", Dad was "Little Mike" and "Uncle Mickey" was a cool dude before he died.
Then I hired into a place where my last name was written on the front of my hardhat...
So, Woody, Woodman, Whitford, Woodard, Woodrow, Woof'rd, etc. became the norm.
And besides that, I'm just excited to be here. |

William Dawes and Paul Revere were both sent to warn the "Minutemen" but Paul Revere was stopped along the way. Mr. Dawes was able to complete his task.
We remember "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" because of the poem that popularized it.

Location: Georgetown, KY | Hey everyone, brand new to the forum and this is my first post. Thought it was as good of a place as any to introduce myself. My screen name is my email address minus the @yahoo.com. It is my first name (Kevin obviously) my badge number (812 - I am a sergeant with a local police dept. in Kentucky), and the year I created my yahoo account (2006). I have recently started playing guitar again after a long time off. I bought myself a 6778 lx-vn Standard Elite as a divorce present, LOL. I played a ton of acoustic guitars while trying to figure out which one to buy. I had always wanted an O but never got around to getting one. After playing my friends 1778 Elite I was absolutely hooked. No ther acoustic that I had touched: Martin, Taylor, Breedlove, etc. even came close to the playability and sound. Found a good deal on one on ebay out of ZoZo music for under $700.00 brand new with hard case and jumped on it. I have never been more pleased with a purchase. After that I got a mild case of GAS and bought two new Sratocasters; A black American Standard (now for sale lol), and a John Mayer Signature Strat (Awesome, no other word for it). Glad to be a part of this forum, and look forward to discussing O's with everyone! |

Playing right handed guitar makes it very convenient for making future guitar purchases. As I have been told, "left handed people are the ones in their right mind. ...we use the right side of the brain to be left handed!" Guess you can now see why I like this website so much!! Keep the humor coming...from either side of your brain!! |

and after 40 someodd years of playing, finally got my first O.
Always wanted one since they first were intro'd.
The name, Movation came about because the wife wasn't sure what those guitars with "the belly" were called. Thank goodness our local guy is an O dealer and directed her to a very pretty light top Celebrity CC48.
Changed the strings to Martin bronze 10s.
(I apologize right now to all the 12 purists)
Lowered the bridge (mark, sand & fit 5 times!)
Love the sound and now the action.
My "Movation" has now been the guitar of choice for the 1st set.

If you answered "yes" to both the above, perhaps you'd be interested in buying some of my shares in the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I have inside information that the toll is going to increase dramatically in 2011, which will cause the share prices to literally double overnight when this information becomes public in a months time. |
