The rubber washers on the tops of the carriage bolts are actually the rubber washers from the String Swing guitar wall hangers.
The guitar is strapped down firmly enough to the guitar does not move, however do not over tighten the strap....unless you are skilled in the art of crack repair.
You will use the carriage bolts to adjust the straightness of the neck and provide support so the neck does not flex when leveling the frets.

Here is close up of the neck after being straightened, notice a couple of the frets are not properly secured to the fret board and will need to be glued before going any further. if not the frets will just flex during the process and will never level properly.
Gluing and clamping of lose frets.
The neck is straight and secured, and all frets are glued as needed.
Put masking tape over the fret board between the frets and paint the frets with a magic marker (color choice is based on the individual). of course I did not do that before taking the picture.....DOH!
Now, what I do is run the leveling tool up and down the fret board evenly a few times, and then I slide the leveling tool side to side to maintain the radius of the neck and frets.
By marking up the frets you will be able to see the high and low spots on the frets.
Once you are done with the fret leveling, you will need to re crown the frets. A fret file would be the best choice for this.

I do all of my own guitar work, mainly because I can't afford to pay someone else....and I enjoy learning. |

it really is there with just enough pressure to keep the neck from bouncing like a diving board. |

im not a pro by any means but that looks pretty damn good to me. a $45.00 1971 1111-1 balladeer came to me with a broken neck and the top in 3 peices...i did my best
