Deep/no cut, Deep cutaway, Deep counture, Mid bowl & Super Shallow. You need to think about which you want. From there then decide what appointments you want. In this economy I have seen custom legends in that price range.
You might wont to consider getting a new one.
I think AL still a New USA Balladeer in that price range.
http://www.lostartvintage.com/mainframe.asp
its 1861-LX new with the warrentee.
Its alot safer and Ovation backs its USA model
with best service.
I would drop Al Pep off message board.
I would recommend trying to from another OFC
selling some on the for sale board.
WTB add there.
Plus letting us know what stuff you plau might help.
another place to check
http://www.musicgoround.com/
Then I would try ebay.
Welcome aboards |

I am sending you an e-mail. I have a 1778 LX that you could have a look at and try to get the feel of the Ovation sound. Then we can step to the Adamas line with the U681...

Strum or fingerstyle?
Amplified or acoustic only?
Barre chords or only open?
Do you need wider spacing between the strings?
It sounds like you like the looks of the Elites and if you play plugged in a super shallow or mid bowl should be fine. |

Like PEZ mentioned, there are a lot of good ones for sale on this board from reputable people. You will find that the majority of people on this board are honest and interested in seeing you get what you want and not be taken in by some dead beat seller. Quote ... | Really, there's not a whole lot of difference in those 2 models. The C778LX has a AAA-grade top, while the 1778LX has a AA-grade top. Other than that, the only difference is in the amount of "bling" (decorative elements). The C778LX has the abalone prufling and slightly fancier abalone fret markers. The important things - bowl size, body shape, neck, bracing & pickup are the same. The C778LX also has the slightly upgraded OP-Pro Studio pre-amp, but the OP-Pro on the 1778 is nearly as good.
I wouldn't get hung up on the top grade, either. A lot of times the final grade given to tonewood is based more on appearance than actual tonal qualities. I've heard AA-grade tops that sound better than AAA-grade.
If you can, just try them out, especially side-by-side. And even then, try out several guitars of the same model. Even though Ovations are much more consistent "out of the box" than all-wood guitars, there can still be enough difference in tonewood (and other factors) that two otherwise identical guitars might sound quite different. And also realize that ALL Ovations sound distinctly different from all-wood guitars - not better or worse, necessarily, just different. |
