Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Phil, the amp cost me $24 used, so an amp cover would cost more than the amp, and bugs (such as they are in Colorado this time of year) at 40 mph pretty much just bounce off me since I'm in front of the amp. On a general note, bugs at altitude aren't anything like those flying egg yolks you flatlanders have back east, especially during the summer. We made the 16 mile round trip without issue. |

Location: closely held secret | Excellent. I could tell the case would probably be all right against the heat shield, but I was a bit worried that you were hanging onto those pegs by your toes.
Did it handle ok with that weight hanging off the back, or was the steering a little squirrelly? |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Steering is expectedly light, but this model has a centrifigal clutch to go along with its 4-speed trans, so over acceleration (as in the amount required to pull the front wheel off the ground) isn't a problem. At city speeds, the handling wasn't a problem. Keep in mind that the total gear as packed was less than 100 pounds, and most of the weight was down low, so it is actually a little better than having a relatively small passenger sitting on the back. |

Location: New York | A little over 100 mpg. Yeah right. I average about 18 running around town and short rides.
About 14 - 15 if I am riding it hard or averaging 70mph or so.
But really, we don't buy bikes like this one for the mileage. It has the aerodynamics of a cinder block and as many cubic inches as my Chevy Suburban. For mileage stick with Prof.BB's :D |

Get rid of the helmet, buy a long hair wig, put some "Ape Hangers" on that puppy, a set of foot pegs way up high, lean back on the amp, slip on the cheap sun glasses and Ryyyde Baaabee Ryyyde.
Now that would be a KODAK moment! |

I'm the local postman in my little village. Those bikes are used Australia wide and with the cost of fuel there's now a pretty good market for used ones, particularly with the younger generation. They might not go fast, but they go far.
Sometimes delivering the mail here doesn't seem like a job to me. With the ocean and the sunshine I can sometimes feel like I'm just out riding for fun.
I never knew of the inscription on the tyres. I'll have a look today. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Oz, I bought the tires new on eBay for $60/pair, which also included new tubes. I'm sure they're made in China. Maybe some official in the Postal Service rejected them because of the misspelling, and then some entrepreneur picked up a couple of containers of otherwise decent tires on the cheap and is now selling them piecemeal on the net. There's thousands of these bikes still on the road so I'm sure there's a market for the tires. |
