This was done a while back, but I did some quick counting and found out who had the last word on the most threads for the recent past:

DA WINNER:

PEZ

Close Second:

Mark in Boise

Third:

MusicMishka

I will leave it to you to decide if they had the last word because they were so insightful, inspirational, or they just struck everyone speechless, or they were just trying to run up their post counts. :p

I was trying to avoid posting altogether. I noticed my post count was getting up into what I consider the "Biggest Loser" category, even before this thread was posted.
I doubt my posts were insightful, or I wouldn't have killed so many threads. Inane, maybe.

Too bad Andrea wasn't the thread killer for that one, back at post #1.

You can travel the whole 8,456,510 SQ KM Brazil by foot if you are up to it. Travelling around Canada seems to be like walking a long way on thin ice. And these ten percent bigger than Australia are the best part of it.

Muz,
Shame on you; now I have to get a new keyboard!
If Australia, Brazil and Canada were all next to each other, would the planet become so out of balance that we'd cease to be? Or would there just be the first "tri-continental" OFC jam?

Well, if he keeps up the charade, I'm sure we'll give him foreign aid, a stimulus package, and diplomatic immunity. (oops, political)

I remember reading about a guy who moved to an abandoned oil platform out in the Atlantic somewhere and started his own country. I think the guy in Pennsylvania is smaller, but the oil platform was LEGAL.

Ah, but you're all forgetting that Australia lays claim to most of Antarctica, 6,119,818 sq km of it. That makes:
Australia = 13,737,748 sq km.

Upon reflection, the list at the beginning might have unfairly discriminated against those who post the most (hence more likely to have the last word). Would be good to find the person who has the highest percentage of last posts as a proportion of their monthly number of posts.

OK, I've set up the methodology, who wants to crunch the numbers?

Not to be picky, but the aim was to see which member had killed the most threads. Then it became to have the last word, killing this thread.

It's been said that I don't have a life
Oh those words cut me just like a knife
Rhyming helps me along
When I'm writing a song
But it's time to go home now so I'll leave it to the rest of you to finish this stupid poem that is giving me so much strife....

One of these days you, too, may get an incurable disease, become too sick to work, be largely confined to home, watching your life's savings drain away because an insurance company refuses to honor their disability policy. If, God forbid, that time should ever come - you, too, might enjoy a harmless diversion like IPQ.

They received some Applause

There once was a thread on the 'net
Where cleverer poets would bet
They could out-post a bunch
Who would link songs at lunch
But the poets have not done it yet

Guy walks into a bar. Standing at the bar is a pirate, with a peg leg, a hook hand and an eye patch.
Striking up a conversation with the pirate, the guy finally asks him, "So if you don't mind me asking, what happened to your leg?"
The pirate replies, "Aye, arrggh. We struck into a bad storm, I was washed overboard, and a shark chewed me leg off, and I got me peg leg!"

The guy is amazed. He then asks the pirate, "And if I may ask, what about your hand?"
The pirate wands his hook about and says, "Aye, arrggh, we was boarded by another band o pirates, and one of em cut me hand off with a sword, and I got me hook."

The guy says, "What an exciting life you've led! Great stories! And your eye? A native spear? A thrown dagger?"
The pirate looks at the floor and quietly says, "Arrggh... Seagull droppings."
The guy is dumbfounded. "Seagull droppings??"

"Ah, arrggh, aye. It was me first day with the hook..."

Just so it's not ALL scatological
Here's a verse that is much more methodical
There are ways we can play
And all have our say
But please, don't get too pedagogical

(I will admit to using spellcheck at this point,
but haven't resorted to the rhyming dictionary shelf. yet)

I thought someone was going to do some poetry in here? I searched and searched and searched...and darned if I could find any!

So, instead of lousy limericks...how 'bout some horrible Haiku?

To wit:

Carbon-top guitars
Sound deep, throaty, resonant
Others are jealous

A poem, or joke, would suffice
Even a good pun is nice
For talent's sublime
Even gooder f'it rhyme
But posting alone man? No dice!

RyanAir, the cheap UK airline, was talking about charging a pound to use the toilet on their flights.

Now it'll cost a pound to spend a penny.

Lot's of people have tried to claim that title Karen. It wasn't Dave's exclusively. Sorry.

The purpose of this thread has changed since the original post and has now become a rallying point for those that want a certain other thread to come to an end.

At least this thread has revealed some hidden talents amongst the membership - the other is just an idle, no-brainer post bumper.

Maybe the moderators can change the thread title?

So... let's have a contest to pick a new thread title.

Hey guys, Karen is going through a very bad time right now, with Father's Day tomorrow and missing him so much. When Dave passed away so suddenly, we all promised to be there for her. I suggest everyone send a PM and let her know we still care and are keeping her and the kids in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

Karen (OLJ),

Hopefully you're still 'here' because I believe that Dave would have appreciated and contributed to this thread, and possibly even have tried to grab 'bragging rights'.

If anything, since your post, maybe we (OFC family) can dedicate this post to Dave in the spirit and memory of all of our Dads that we can no longer hug.

Here's hoping that you and yours can find some comfort and peace in knowing that so many here share your loss in our own small ways...

Though his body resides in a grave,
To his memory we toast
And forever we boast,
That we will not desist and behave...

But once in a while, they meet
At that fork in the road
May we meet, share the load

It's dead
But it won't lie down.
It's revived

It's a mystery why
They won't let it die,
and keep dragging the corpse

I woke up this morning
My body was wracked with pain
I'd get out of bed
But my energy has been drained
Where my strength has all gone
I simply just can't explain

I looked in the mirror
My hair had turned steely grey
My eyesight is blurry
But I think that that's OK
With my vision so poor
I can't see my wrinkles today

The things I used to eat
My system just won't allow
Spicey food is a memory
I only dream about now
Bland fare with high fiber
Has become my regular chow

Yeah I woke up this morning
Old age took me by the hand
I didn't have a choice
I gave in to his demand
He said "Take a walk with me baby
Into AARP land"

Some people there are who can't help berate
Those who simply refuse now to venerate
The old-timers among us
With ego's humongous
Whose jealousy drives them to denigrate.

Held it (or, ONE of them) yesterday.
Should be pics around soon.
There was a parade through town, most of the town was in the parade so there were few left to watch.

From the grave into 2010
This ol’ thread’s alive again
Although it’s trite
Loaded with spite
It sure does make me grin

"It sure does make me grin", said "Iffy",
as 'it' rose from the grave in a 'jiffy'.

Run off course on occasions,
But the guitar porn gives me a st----

Taylors take a beating here
And sometimes Gibsons too I fear
There is something they lack
Without a round back
They're the guitars we all love to jeer

I thought this topic should be revived in honor of Mr. Fill Hixx.

I claim to be the Top Thread Killer.
