Hopefully the places will have more than just Celebrities, which is all that the last place I went to had. I really want to try as many Ovations as I can.

Although I won't be buying on this trip, I want to know which questions are the best to ask regarding Ovations.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated!

Take a 9 volt battery with you. Guitar Center often lets them run down and doesn't replace them. Other sellers may too.

A working guitar cable wouldn't hurt too. You can leave it in the car if you don't need it, but when Gary and I went to buy his 1597, we wouldn't have known if it worked unless I'd brought along cables.

Try them with a good acoustic amp.

If you talk price, know that all US Ovations include a case. FlySig's daughter had to set a seller straight on that one.

Good luck!

That surprises me. I've never had a problem with getting a fresh battery or cable at GC.

You could get a good cable from them, and ask for a fresh battery. I don't expect you'd have a problem there, as Jack sez. I have found several dead ones, but never asked for a new battery.

Sounds like you're going multiple places. It can't hurt to be prepared.

What would be a good acoustic amp? I don't have an amp right now, but would be looking for one in the future. I was told by someone at the studio where I take lessons that Peavey makes the best acoustic amp. That was his opinion anyway.

Actually, I'll only have time to go to one place today. I'm taking my car to be serviced and the music shop would be on my way home. The car dealership is quite a distance from my home, so I want the make the most of my trip when I'm there.

The place I went to about a month ago was Daddy's Junky Music. That was the place that had one Applause and the rest were Celebrities. The salesman had also told me that at one time they had a wall full of Celebrities with cracked tops.

Good amp is a Getz Benz...

Good Affordable (cheap) amp is an Ibanez Troubadour or a Crate CA10, 15, 30...

Sometimes Daddy's is aptly named (at least the one here in town can be). On the flip side, Hossman just picked up a great deal from them so you can get lucky too. Our local GC usually has some LX's on the wall as well as the typical Celeb's. It'd be great to find some CL's or something on that level but not here and we've beat that horse too many time to get into it again.

Oh, and I should mention that the last time I went shopping, they had plugged the Celebrity and Applause into a Behringer amp.

Michelle, any Genz Benz acoustic amp or Fender acoustic amp would be good to use...if you are able to find a USA made Ovation all the better...however, I have heard the new Asian made O's are not too bad...but thats hearsay on my part so best of luck...

Since we are talking about amps, I have three choices, all in the same price range, and would like to hear your opinion on them:

1) Marshall AS 100 D.
2) Roland AC 90.
3) Fender Acoustasonic JR DSP.

Thank you folks!
