I on the other hand have no such reservations.

Side note: It kind of looks like the guy on the left in the "Sloppy Seconds" photo is playing a black O. My eye sight is bad, though. |

I threw this together in-lieu of the usual "bio" t'go on the webpage, and it's also somewhat of a "poke" at an "Entertainment" reporter in one of our local newspapers . . .
The guy on the bottom IS playing an Ovation.
That our own John B.
He and my ex-prtner Rick are currently out as "Second Shift".
The "Sloppy Seconds" thing is me having a bit of a piss w/them . . .
"I Kid Because I Love . . . "

It does look black in that picture. For the record, the name of the duo is "second Shift". Good 'ol Cliff and that sense of humor of his. He's a regular riot! |

It was actually quite horrid, but it WAS just a little local piss-ant newspaper.
She used t'be the brunt of a LOT of "inside jokes" between Rick & myself. This "article" was/is just a carry-on of that . . . |

The guy on the bottom IS playing an Ovation. Woohoo! I can cancel my eye appointment!
"I Kid Because I Love . . . " That's better than my deal. I got kids because I...er, never mind. Family forum.
Seriously, cliff, very well done, especially in light of the intent. The pic on the front page, by the way, is evocative; well done. I wonder now, though, if you're photographer's name isn't a play on a semi-famous guitarist's name. Fool me once... ;) |

| That was a nice write up! I have no where near the same number of performances under my belt but I can say I do understand the effort it takes to do an evenings entertainment with a crowded house of dunken sports fans. For any of you guy's who do not do a "solo act" let me tell there are nights this is the most fun and satisfying outlet for your talents you can imagine, and then there are nights it seems to take forever for the evening to be done. It is all about the crowd. The good ones...like Cliff.......can often get a difficult crowd into what your doing. You have to be a "front man/leadsinger the only guitarist, soundman/roadie and your own manager/booking agent and your responsible for drunken crowd control too" I am still working on this....it is true talent that many musicians do not do very well with. Age, attitude/confidence, sense of humor, and life experience (to name a few) help with this. It is something you can't practice until your in the moment... so experience is the only lesson master here. If there was a way to teach it Cliff would be a great instructor though.
Cliff; if I stop down to pick up my guitars from Al perhaps you'd teach me the guitar parts for Going to California? I'll show you some other ZEP that perhaps you have not tried?

You performers, especially in bars, have some cajones. Clever way to finally finish that bio, Cliff. |

| Great Article Cliff, you seem like a cool dude doing what he loves. I can relate to trying to mix up the repertoire and not have to belt out Brown Eyed Girl for a living, looks like you do a good job of keeping it interesting.
I'm doing some writing of my own too, finally.I found this book http://www.amazon.com/Artists-Way-Spiritual-Creativity-Workbook/dp/...
to be amazing at breaking through writers block and stimulating your creativity, also some good ,and inspiring exercizes that help with discipline and reinforcing your belief in yourself as a writer. Sounds deep, but its a very popular book among artists of all kinds. |
