Location: Paris/France | You probably remember Rémy\'s Adamas Slothead #519 from 1978.
Rémy is a Doctor for humans but also for guitars (we call him "The Doc") and sometimes I'm sure that he steal the drugs of his patients... :D :D :D
Some month ago, we've had a discussion together and he told me that he wanted to redone the headstock of his slothead.
I thought he was joking but he wasn't...
Here's the final result and I have to admit that he has done a great job and that his guitar looks wonderful now (look at the pics below)!!
And you can download a picture in high rez HERE!!!

Remy's headstock re-model looks great. I always thought that's they way they should have been done in the first place. |

I had it built that way at the factory with a custom cut neck/headstock. It's tricky to retrofit on slotheads because the inner post hole has to match the Waverly shaft which is thinner than the standard Schaller drilling. On flat headstocks you can use an adapter coller, but on slotheads to do it right you really need to plug the inner holes and redrill. Or do as I did and have your dealer custom order it that way.

..but I like the " before " better , it added contrast , and ofcourse , the tuning -buttons should have been in gold.

It's amazing what he can do with just a drill press and a belt sander. :) |

That last picture was a reply to Dave and Trader Jim for the same Waverly tuners I did put on my custom UT in replacement of the original Schaller's, I just had to drill from 6 mm to 6,3 mm the internal hole and to put a little cylindrical Schaller piece in the external hole 10 mm 6,3 mm for the tuner (we can see it on the picture) : now it works really fine and much more better than original Schaller's tuners.
For my old Marcel's 1689-7 slothead, it's also interesting to see that it's a walnut wood carved scroll head and not a foam one as we could think during that period (1978), I really love it now and it looks like I was thinking about it in my dreams. Thanks Paul for those beautiful tuner buttons. One word more : this guitar is acoustically fabulous.
Thanks

Thanks

I still think it would've looked better if you'd just hacksawed the whole cauliflower off. I hate them. |
