There was magic when the four of them were together and choreographed by George Martin. Would they still have it if they had come back together? My bet is yes. But we'll never know.

I suspect they would have reunited by now and would even have toured, but not to the exclusion of their individual careers.

IMWO In My Wife Opinion (i am not a beatles fan), in beatles music there were the seeds of all today music genres. Infact beatles music seems simple, catchy and pop. It was on contrary the fruit of a refined research work. Therefore surely they would have produced music that we would like 'cause they were "forerunners".

I think if they were all still alive they would have certainly got together for at least a couple special performances, the pull of the money would be too great to resist. Look at the release of those new songs and the anthology albums a few years back.

But I also think that they would be operating more or less independently like they have been ever since they split.

What I have been waiting for is, when will there be a Beatles movie? I mean a movie that chronicles their story with actors and a screen play, and not just another documentary. You would think some producer would have taken on this project by now.

I agree with Northcountry, I've always loved their music, it is what I first learned on guitar, my Mom still loves it when I play Blackbird.

For some reason in my youth that was the song that you had to know if you were a somebody who could play guitar and I couldn't get it down right so I put that song into the Recycle Bin and have never pulled it back out.
A fellow co-worker and I sometimes go to the local guitar store and play a bit and that is the first thing he always plays and it drives me nuts.I hate that song out of not being able to play it correctly.GWB

I got derailed by the IMWO reference. As I was driving my wife and her sister around yesterday (something that is becoming a bit too frequent), I was talking about how IMO doesn't mean anything anymore, but IMWO is the only one that matters. Of course, they didn't listen to anything I said.

My guess is, they'd still do an occasional LP, but no live appearances. Don't know why I say that, maybe logistics? Although if they had never broken up or passed on, it may not be the big deal it would have been as it was. One nice thing if they had stayed together as unit, they would have had the power to keep all their music theirs, and not let it be owned by Michael Jackson, and Sony or whomever. That's the real shame of the current situation.

I respectfully disagree about the money. I think for each one individually it would be about the music. That certainly has shown through in their post-Beatles careers. The whole money thing was what really broke them up in the first place ...

GWB...

Might I suggest you consult a Professional Gerontological Therapist.

I think you have some issues.

They wouldn'a done it for the money. The poorest Beatle (Ringo?) would still be the richest man in Liverpool. (even without the money, really.)

They would only do it for fun, art, or 'Cos one of them wrote a Beatle song. (Much like Simon & garfunkle/My Little Town, Eagles/Get Over It) In fact, weren't there some 'informal' reunion/jams at things like Ringos wedding?

In my opinion, doubtful, particularly if Ono was involved. I don't think it would be too surprising where their music would have have gone. Just listen to Paul's stuff.

Frankly, although a fan of the Beatles, I think their outburst of talent was beginning to fizzle out around the time they broke up. Lennon had a handful of meaningful AND melodic songs after the "divorce", McCartney had a plethera of melodic but meaningless songs (as usual), Harrison kept up his 10% contribution and Ringo remained obscure. We'd still buy whatever they produced, just like we still buy McCartney's ramblings (IMO) but the magic that existed became something else, far less than the whole.

Even with McCarney's great bands of talented musicians, how many post-Beatles tunes do you still enjoy covering?? And who would buy "Free as a Bird" if Lennon's name weren't associated with it, even after the others filled in with their contributions?

I'd have paid a fortune to have seen them reunited and be first in line to get their live CD of the old hits. If they ever did that though, I'm sure it would be for money alone. To hear them talk, they didn't either remember or enjoy what many feel are their best collatorative works. Too bad. At least they marked our generation and their old stuff is still alive.

It would be cool to go to a concert that had all the circus pomp of a recent McCartney concert, including Yoko One being shot out of a canon... into a brick wall, and McCartney's ex walking across hot coals while carrying big bags of money, sinking deeper and deeper as her prosthetic leg melts. Sorry, started daydreaming again...

The answer is no. It happened and the moment has long passed. Yes, the 70's brought about some quality recording by each member after they broke up. But that was 30 plus years ago. The magic has long passed, even if they were still around.............On the other hand, I will never forgive Yoko.

Well, if Mark Chapman had actually been a GOOD shot and actually HIT his (and the rest of the world's) intended target...
