Last year I came home with a very rare sunburst brazilian CW28. Way over the top but I attributed it to a one off opportunity. Now this year no sooner does the plane touch down in Phoenix and I stumble on another little sunburst gem. I ain't visiting Amelia Island again for a long time ...
It'll be here later this week and I'll let you know all about it. Sorry the back isn't round, but you know how it goes.

Location: Phoenix AZ | Dang. Just realized this is the same "violin burst" finish as the Tak430 I recently got. I must have some subliminal attraction to the color. Probably goes back to my days attempting to learn the violin.

Is this your 1st C-10? Man I love the size, feel and sound of them. This one looks just like the C-10DB I got (remember the ugly couch photo) about a month ago. You're gonna love it! |

I've got a Dread, OM, and C10. All sunburst.

I've only played one Tak over the years that I liked, it was a black 12 string cutaway model made around '98-'99 timeframe. It was way more than I could afford in those days, so I never followed up on what model it was. Don't like the neck profile on any others I tried. One day maybe I will. |

However, I would not get a maple guitar in sunburst, although what they make is very nice. If you're doing maple, you want to see all that flamey maple, right? |

Most of the bursts on the O's are a bit more harsh...just meaning that the color changes are a bit more severe. The middle right in your above photo is a good example of one that doesn't follow the normal "O" burst while the others are perfect examples of what I was referring to with the "severe" color change. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Yup. The Ovation bursts are more "harsh" in that most of them fade to black on the outside. This looks really nice with abalone trim, such as on the Custom Legend top left.
Collings does three different bursts (unless you specify something different) depending on the side/back wood of the guitar. They do a different burst for Rosewood, Mahogany and Koa. The r/w burst is darker on the edge similar to Ovation. Mahog burst is a lighter (such as the C10 picture above) and the Koa normally gets a very yellow/orange burst (similar to the Hurricane photo). All are beautiful.
It's nice to lust after a guitar that looks good. Also nice to lust after one that sounds good. When you get BOTH in the same packagem that's something REALLY special.

To have both a sunburst and a 1 3/4" nut is heavenly! |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Actually I was a little confused, the nut on the C10 I just got is in fact 1-3/4. I asked the seller about that before I bid, but then I noticed that the ebay posting said 1-11/16. I checked with him again and he said again that this one has the optional deep body and 1-3/4 nut. The specs for the ebay posting were just pulled from the standard Collings web blurb. Either way I'll find out for sure in a few days. Dave |
