| It looks like a CVT 1680, but I could be very wrong. I love the tone of his guitar!
Anyhow, I've been enjoying this guy's videos on YouTube.

You don't know how much I appreciate that link. I may not be able to play guitar, but I can (OK, used to...) 'trip the light fantastic'.
I truly wish I could express my emotions via the guitar as I did via dancing!
Guess I should have taken up drums... Naw... |

That's not excluding our other resident talent. But this song seems to fit their styles... |

I too would like to hear darkbar's, losov's or any other OFC member's version of this song.
This guy has over 400 videos on YouTube, many of them with Ovations. If he isn't a member here, he should be! :)

| Well, Iffy, it looks like his channel was shut down by YouTube.

Why was he shut down and not the others? I don't know much about copyrights and YouTube.

| Either someone had it in for him and complained, or YT is culling those with the greatest number of covers. I imagine if the latter is the case, Fretkillr will be hit soon. I only had about twenty or so, but it's inevitable that they'll come knocking, so I pulled them. |

If they pull all the covers all they will have left is laughing babies and stupid skateboarders. |

I emailed Larry and told him I'd buy the blank CDs if we could save his repertoire for his fans. I'd even do the burning if I had the files.
That goes for anyone here also! Losov ya copy? I'm as serious as a heart attack... Gawd I hate this crap... |

As much as I can sympathize with his situation, and other peoples desires to have access to his videos, the fact remains that he is not the copyright owner. |

Are you saying that the vids and audios of previously published/copyrighted music on the ning site are illegal?
If no one is making money, what's the issue?
Sure would like to get some valid readings on this topic... |

| I suppose the prevailing theory is that YouTube, via advertising and what fees they might collect, is making money, (but not a profit, it seems).
So although Larry, or Fretkillr or I are not getting paid for our performances, our videos attract the audiences that see the advertising, same as radio or TV.
Frankly I was wary before I posted, but there were so many damn covers there that had been there for years, I figured it must be OK. It seems it's not. Given some of the extreme punishment visited on some of the Napster folks when that came crashing down, I don't want to be caught up in that kind of repeat of history. I believe Larry's a pro, nobody knows what Fretkillr is, but I'm sure not. I'm just some guy; it's not worth that kind of risk.
It would be great if there were a place where we could share our performances and tell the big guys, "Hey, we're just harmless kids having fun." But the big guys do own the songs, so it's their call. And they made it. |
