Like Al Stewart's first chorus in "Year of the Cat." Or those cool acoustic leads in "White Bird" (It's a Beautiful Day). Do you have a PERSONAL gem to share?

Hate me if you like, but the instant I read the title of the thread, Aimee by Pure Prairie League popped into my head.

Joe Walsh and Don Felder doing the Acoustic version of "Hotel California" on Hell Freezes Over....it gives me chills everytime I watch/hear it...

my 2 cents: Don Felder will always be an "Eagle" in my book...but since he has more class/talent in his little finger than Don Henley has in both hands...he's better off...ymmv

Joe Walsh is one of the best...

"Once upon a December" from the Disney cartoon - Anastasia... it has some interesting twists and turns; whether it sounds great or not is definitely personal; yet as a beginner level guitar student, I find it most interesting to listen and play...

This would be up there, but to narrow to one would be too difficult; Tommy's stuff is just wall to wall solo:

The gallery guy is right. This started with a pop/rock song. Anyway, "Goodbye Porkpie Hat" is my favorite from "My Goals Beyond".

+1 on Aimee

I also really like the solo in Chris Isaak's version of South of the Border, on the Baja Sessions album.

How can you have a lead solo in an instrumental song?
In jazz (& other instrumental styles) some parts are arranged (head), others improvised (solo). Hence "Kenny Burrell\'s solo" "I Never Knew" or John Mcglaughlin's "solo" (at 1:25) in Thousand Island Park .

I can't remove it, but consider my Tony Rice choice redacted. I thought you guys were intereste in great guitar music, but with the exception of a few of you, most of you appear to be more interested in licks.

Click.

One of my favorites is the acoustic backing Rod Stewart's "You're In My Heart". I especially like the intro.

For melodic pop spoo, I've always like the twin acoustic guitars during the break in Runaway Train by Soul Asylum.

Moody gave me a CD a couple of weeks ago of a bluegrass/country album by Tony Rice and Norman Blake. There's some pretty wicked stuff on there.

In the world music section, I like Makada by Sergio Lara.

I guess it wouldn't count as a solo, but the acoustical intro to "Crazy On You" by Heart stands out in my mind
