Being in love with Ovation guitars since I was 15 yrs old, I am looking for a new 12-string, but can´t decide which one. I could afford a Elite Texture 2058 TX-5 or a Standard Elite 2758 AX.
What confused me most are the photos on German Musik-Schmidt shop, showing the 2758 AX-NEB as USA-made. Could anybody help me? I would be very happy to hear your opinion on both models...

Welcome Chris.

If the sticker says that it is an AX or a TX it is made in Korea... or somewhere in Asia.

I have a USA made 2058T... It is a nice guitar, but I have never played a 2758 so I can't compare it.
I like my 2058T. I did compare it to a 1115 Pacemaker and I believe that the 2058T had more bass.
But I sold the 1115 and kept the T because the T plugged-in and had a tuner.
I rarely play a 12-String, so I didn't need two.

If they are both the same price, appearance might be the major consideration.
But alot of people think that the Textured-top sounds better.

That ain't much help, is it? :p

Welcome Chris. I would think the biggest consideration would be the finish. The textured finish is much more durable if you're going to use the guitar to play out. The finished wood top looks nicer to me though.

Thanks a lot Old Man Arthur and Trader Jim. Actually it was a lot of help, Old Man Arthur, especially because I care more for sound than for appearances... Also the 2058 TX is about 100 Euros cheaper. Trader Jim: Guess I really don´t like all these finger prints on the finishes, so I guess texture top would be fine with me.

Since I am very new here (became member today) some information: I play just as an amateur, and own a Pinnacle CU 147 (Korea made) which I like a lot because of its AA Grade solid top and nice acoustic sound (according to my ears)... Bought it in Turkey where I live and preferred its sound a lot to the diverse Celebrities in offer I tried along with it.

Welcome.
Sounds like you would be very happy with texured Elite top. I have a six string in that style that I am very pleased with.

I used the T last night at practice.
Brian used his Adamas. The T is no Adamas but there are a couple songs we start out with a thumped A string and a low E harmonic.
For some reason, the T I'm playing has some amazing sustain. It just rings on & on.
