Location: Yalova/Turkey | Hi there,
though I found quite a few threads on Pinnacle 3XXX´s, there seem to be none about the Pinnacle CU 147. It´s not to be found on the Ovation Archive, where there is only the CU 247 with multiholes. The CU 147 seems to be its centerhole version, but the other features seem to be identic: AA grade solid sitka spruce, mid depth cutaway, quintad bracing, OP 30 preamp, gold and pearl tuners, abalone inlays (and in case of the CU 147 abalone rosette). My CU 147 seems to be flawless, set up on the spot, easy to play and I was astonished by its unplugged sound when I was looking for an affordable Ovation at Zuhal Music in Istanbul/Turkey. In comparison with some Celebrities its sound was much more lifely, better in bass and much clearer high notes. Also I liked that the sound was well balanced over all notes from bass up to the highest.
I like the guitar with its ruby redburst, its sound, its playability and its overall features, but it would seem it was either produced in very low numbers or nobody else much prefers it - at least not the Ovation afficionados at OFC.
What are your thoughts and comments? Did you ever play a Pinnacle CU 147 and did you like it? Is it much worse than USA-made Ovations with similar features?
Looking forward to your answers. Best regards, Chris. |

Only 'Moderators' (administrators) can edit/delete stuff.
That would be Miles or Al. (Mr. Ovation or Alpep)
They really run the show.
I'm just here all the time cuz I have No Life! :p |

Location: Yalova/Turkey | Hi Marenostrum, glad you liked it... Seller says its a honey burst finish, the label inside the guitar doesn´t indicate anything about the finish...
Regards, Chris. |
