Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Well, I only had five submissions, and one is disqualified because he PM'd me the same message he had already posted here on the board. So in the interest of fairness, I will post all four of the valid submissions. I will do this tonight because tomorrow will be a crazy day and I might not have time. Then tomorrow I post the poll. I had to do a little bit of editing to keep some of you from guessing the identities, but the main messages are intact. I'll give you all a couple of days to read them and vote. Sunday at 5PM MDT, I will announce the winner.
CONTESTANT #1:
I'm 49 years old. My birthday is in September. The first time I saw an Ovation was last fall at a show put on by a local radio station to announce their 2009 schedule. One new, very good singer/songwriter had this weird guitar with him, but the sound that came from that box - awesome is the word to describe it. That got me thinking about Ovations. I did some Ebay searches and asked a question on a different guitar forum. A member sent me here to the OFC. Many questions and three Ovation purchases later, I am now very pleased with what I have. To think I could get a book that will tell me more about Ovation is thrilling. How many countries this book will go to is amazing. To actually show some friends this book, wow, even more awesome. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
CONTESTANT #2:
Well you see, life is always the same around here, and it would be nice to have some change. Now a book cannot change life. Only people can make changes to life. Remember though, that books can change people.
Contestant #3:
Since here on the website we women be few
Herein is a pleading from me out to you
Menfolk have been viewing with more frequency
The book that inspires so much GAS and envy
What's needed indeed is a feminine touch
To balance out all the great goodies and such
In order that justice and fairness there'll be
I ask that you forward the book next to me.
Contestant #4:
Just bought my second Ovation. (1st was a 12 string Matrix that I just sold.) For as much as members say that the Celebrity Deluxe is not the quality of the US Ovations (and they may be right), I LOVE this one. 6 string RRB finish. A bit weak on the low end, but plugged in, VERY kewl. This book should help me decide on which next to beg the wife for. SWMBO finally gave the OK for that sailboat I've been begging for. Hmmm...how about a get together on the boat this fall? I promise to clean my room and eat my veggies if I get the book.
Well folks, there you have them. May the best person win!! |

Location: closely held secret | #1 - too young, but should be considered as the next recipient.
#2 - ...well, change comes from the inside.
#3 - though her rhyming is questionable and meter a little off, she obviously went to a fair amount of effort.
#4 - is getting a boat. Won't have time to read.
My vote is for #3. |

And no, it isn't me. |

Location: closely held secret | Didn't realize there was a poll thread till you posted, Stephen. It was farther down the thread list. Didn't think to look for 2 separate threads concerning the same thing. I have now dutifully fulfilled my obligation as a citizen of OFClia. |

Location: Denmark | Oh, thanks for the clarification. What a nice idea and gesture to circulate the book. Happy reading to whoever gets lucky. Any chance that the book will pass Denmark on it's journey? :) |

I think most of the Aussies have signed one.
So far I've signed three; one I received and two at OFC gatherings. |
