Been following Allison's thread, & respect the process.
However, in the interest of sending positive energy out into the void, I am willing to start my copy on an adventure, also.
Here's the deal: You get it for 30 days. Period. Post a picture on the "ning" site, with the book in your clutches. Then let us know who it went to. They post the arrival, & post a picture. Try to get some distinctive background into the shot, OK?! Put a copy of the picture in the book, too!
We have members world-wide, so mailing time will vary.
Has a copy been to Oz, yet? Might be a good place to start.

At least a couple...

How 'bout starting a 'Continental European Tour'. We have members in Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, Spain, etc.?

Shoot me a PM, or email. A tour of The Old World might be interesting, & Quebec would be a great departure point! I'd love to see the book in front of some well-known, & perhaps more esoteric, locales!
I've got a good backdrop for my location, to start the journey.

As far as I know, only one copy has been downunder. AJ brought it back from one of the get-togethers. We all (AJ, Taffy, Flackster, Oz and I) signed it.

We all have (I think) our own copies now, so it wouldn't be difficult to 'fudge' a photo.

If that was the 'new' one from Amelia Island, then at least one more has been through Oz. ozwatto sent one to me back in Jan with some post cards included. I took that one to G8r Bowl II and then sent it on out to the NW with the Aussie postage/post cards and a handful of G8r Bowl II decals.

Sounds like we may be revv'in up the European Tour. Daniel looks to be the embarkation point, for leaving The Colonies. So, to our European colleagues- start getting organized! It would be fun to get about a dozen "stops" in the next year, before returning to The States.
Heck, if its real successful, how 'bout a junket to South America? I believe we have a couple of members down there. A picture from the top of Sugarloaf in Rio? Machu Pichu?

Three stops, so far. I will initiate a new thread, when The Book is on its way. The order of transfer is to whomever requests the critter, from the current holder, and they make the arrangements. Just keep it circulating!

The logistical coordination will be through the OFC thread, "The Book- European Tour 2009 & Beyond", set to begin very soon. I got my pictures done this AM, so I should have the parcel off to Quebec by Thursday. After that, it's up to Daniel.
Just remember to post arrivals & departures on the TBET-2009 thread.

It's coming. The 1st stop is scheduled in Canada. After that, probably, Tuscany, based on the order in which our members have been responding. That's why have a centralized place for tracking The Book's movements will be essential. With the demonstrated demand evidencing itself, perhaps the "30-day stay" may need to be renegotiated!
Shoot, I may not see this tome's return for a couple of years!!

There will be a slight delay. Today's photos were REALLY bad. No contrast in the image. I thought I had the lighting arranged, but apparently not. I will give it another attempt tomorrow.

IT'S OFF!!!!!!!!!
USPS is now in charge of transport, with projected border crossing into Canada, about 1 week hence.
I have established a group on the "ning" site, TBET 2009 & Beyond, for tracking & reporting of The Book's travels & stops.
Should be entertaining to watch over, probably, the next year, or so.

Greetings, Esteemed Colleagues!
An update on the The Book- European Tour:
Daniel got the tome in Quebec, took pictures by his Lake Champlain, added in some picks, reduced the shipping conveyance to contain the postage expenditure, sent the package to Riccardo in Tuscany, who has posed in front of The Leaning Tower of Pisa & the Tuscany countryside.
Pardon the "Reader's Digest" narrative. Pursue the full content on the "social network" site, under the "TBET- 2009 & Beyond" group.
So, at this point, we need another stop on the travel itinerary. Who is interested in perusing The Book, getting some photos, and adding to the adventure?
Probably best to contact Riccardo AKA marenostrum, directly, to arrange transmittal.
Let's keep this thing in motion!
Cheers to all,
Chris

OK, it's been 2 weeks. Anybody in Europe interested in TBET 2009? Riccardo has it, and Miguel wants it, but he's in Brazil. We can send to South America, no problem. Just thought there might be somebody in The Old World wishing to see The Book, and take some photos.

That's not true. June, July and August has been very nice months meteorology speaking; we are enjoing a real summer this year. I wrote few msg to subpop that showed the interest in getting the book. Hope he is ok. There will be for sure other EUROFC'ers to continue the European tour adventure, I guess.

OK, this is the Tour Director. We need another reservation/request by September 25, 2009, or SubPop needs to contact Miguel in Brazil, and The Book will leave the continent.
Sound fair?

BTW, SubPop, where are the pictures?

Sounds like The Book is making a trek to Deutschland, before its repatriation to the USA.
Too bad, it missed the chopper adventure. Wudda been a true adventure.

Yeah, I was planning to have it flown in one of our Aircraft during a mission so it could have it's very own Combat Certificate.
Maybe when I go to Afganistan in the next year or two.......
I'll take some photos around here on post with some aircraft when it gets here though :)

HI Guys,

It arrived today from Spain, thanks Subpop. Now I'm waiting for Meuti, because we will do something together, may be an "Äppelwoi un'Handkäs"-tour, or what else is really funny. Let's wait until aug. 13th, then he'll be back, ok?

I'm waiting with baited breath for my shot with it but it does make more sense to keep it over there for a bit as opposed to coming here then sending it back across the pond :)
Besides, if I don't get it by December, I'll be back from class and can get it flown on an Aircraft and it'll have it's own little certificate.
Not as cool as a certificate saying it was flown on a Combat Mission as I'd intended initialy, but still cool.
As an aside, we MIGHT be going to Afganistan in late 2011 or early 2012, it might get a shot at a Combat Mission flight anyway :)

today Meuti, his girlfriend Rina and I were on the "Book-Tour" in the nice "Rhein"-Valley. We've had great weather, a lot of fun and so we visited an old castle, named "SOONECK".

It would be nice to make stop in Ireland, but Michael has been waiting patiently. Maybe something can be worked out. I'm the instigator of this adventure, not the commissioner.
Yeah, The Book at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.....that would be cool!
It seems the itinerary needs to accomodate a revised timeframe- not necessarily a bad outcome!!

I'm patient, it doesn't make much sense to send it across the ocean and then back if its allready there.

Yes, I know, Miguel. You've been very patient.
Michael, what's the plan for The Book when you receive it. Can we get it to the Southern Hemisphere? How 'bout the other copy floating around?
Somewhere there is a "loose" copy, I'm sure.

I was planning on taking some pics of it with stuff and then having it flown on one of our Unit Helicopters as I'd discussed with you earlier so it'll have it's own little Official "Flown on an OH-58D Kiowa Warior blah, blah, blah" certificate.

My understanding is it's going to be in Ireland with sycamore for a bit, maybe he could just send it to Miguel & he could send it to me afterwards.

That would actually work better for me so it'll be sure to come to me when I'm back in Tennessee after the second week in November so I can get it flown.
Whomever wants it after me, I can have it turned around within a week of me getting it at home.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm in absolutely no hurry except to get home in November, it would be fine with me for it to go to Miguel first he's probably been waiting on a chance at it since before I asked for it in Iraq.
Ya'll just lemmee know what works best for you guys, no sweat.

As it stands, the paperback copy I have is going to these folks in the folowing order:
james37214, standing, ksdaddy, & Carol.

MRW recently (re)started a second copy circulating in THIS THREAD.

It's a relatively short queue so far and Miguel has now been added to that list…

Tennis match, I just replied to the other post :)
I think sending this copy to Miguel will work out better in the end as opposed to the "THIS THREAD" book.
That way he could be next to get it after sycamore and he could send it to me, it gives me time to get it flown.

Oops, sorry Michael, you and I must have been typing at the same time…

…but you hit send quicker… ;)

IF it's confirmed that Book "A" (hardcover?) is headed to Brazil soon, we will remove Miguel from the list for Book "B" (paperback?)

Hope that's ok with everyone…

We'll have to hear from sycamore (I'll pm him in a minute)that he got this and that he will send the hereafter to be referred to as "Book A" to Miguel in Brazil, then "Book A" will come back to me in the States, then on to whomever asks for it after that.

Miguel gets taken off of the hereafter to be referred to as "Book B" list and it continues on it's trek in America to wherever it goes after Carol.

Yes Book A is on it's way to you from Meuti.
You send it to Miguel in Brazil, Miguel sends it to me in Tennessee after the second week of November.
This is going to work out fine now.

I see from the original post that I was supposed to send pics with the book in my clutches. Well, i did, just about. You can see my hand in one pic. Much too shy to include my face though.

Anyway, reading the book reminded me that I've never played an Adamas or an Elite.
Would someone consider sending one of the above on a European tour? And could I keep it for more than 30 days?

Ok, I had an invitation for a Boat Ride, and wanted to take the book in it.
I wanted to send the book to Michael earlier, but this boat ride made me postpone plans.
I know its not the same as a ride in a Military Aircraft, but it was the best I could organize here.

The book is now in its way to Michael.

Carol:
You're talking about the other copy right?
I'm at the facility for a weekend drill right now but I have a list saved on my computer at home so I'll check and see who is supposed to get that one next.
It was still in Nashville with James as of the 18th.

Seesquare:
I was going to print it out last night and have the Pilots sign it but my printer ink was bad.
So, there will be a little more delay.
I'll have to catch up with them in the next week or so.

Now I have to look at the list and see who has dibs on THIS one.
It'll be on it's way soon.

Well Miguel, did ya come across any Paddy jam sessions yet? There must be some of us there. For a small nation, we do get around

When I was living in São Paulo I used to go to an Irish Pub where Blooms day was celebrated with Guiness and poetry, but there was no band there to play.

Maybe I'll go to Dublin one of these days, then we'll see.

C ya,

Miguel

OK, I FINALLY GOT THE CERTIFICATE SIGNED!
It was flown a while back, I had to make up the certificate, and hunt down the pilots on the next drill, one was there.
Our pilots flop around drill dates so I had a time catching the co-pilot to sign the cert.
I appologize to everybody for holding onto this for so long but it is ready to go to the next recipient.
I know where the other book went and who was scheduled to get it next, then next, etc.
This one I THINK is supposed to go to nikon4004 next right?
Lemmee know if you still want it to come to you nikon, if not I guess we'll open it up for dibs on who gets it next.

Just as review, The Book has been on the road 23 months, so far. Doesn't seem that long, already. Visited several locales, went AWOL, then reappeared. I'm glad it will be traveling again, soon.
So, next stop determined yet?

OK, started 05/30/2009 on it's journey. It has been 7 years, 5 months, thus far, to several countries. May be time for it to "go home to Mama", in New Hartford.
Put out an APB, & git-er-dun.
