The only volume issues I had were at O'Kanes, but Davis starts out turned up to 11 and pretty much stays there all night...
One thing I noticed about Davis (other than the fact that the man kicks acoustic guitar ass), was something about his vocals. Wabbit refferenced his volume intense performance a O'Kanes and I noticed that when he was playing & singing in the "classroom" that his vocals were very quiet. The way I figure it is that a guy like Davis spends 99% of time amped up while us unplugged guys have to sing to be heard over any number of booming Ovations.

regardless of the reasons, the man sounded great.

Wish I could play or sing that well!

Oh I agree.
In the good sense of the phrase Davis is "That Guy".
It's just interesting that he can get the vocal leverage under a song without blowing his lungs out. Maybe that's why he can go all night.

And I also think that Bill & Davis go together like peas & carrots.

I thought Davis was great, both on vocals and guitar. But like Brad, I noticed when he was playing in the classroom I had to strain to hear him over the others (even when someone gave him a Tak to play instead of his Taylor). I could see he clearly new exactly what he was doing, but I couldn't hear him.
I figured it was simply because he was used to being plugged in, and his playing technique was reflecting that.

Good observation wabbit.....except the SlipperyKid was referring to the quietness of Davis' vocals, not his playing.

He's had to record them slowly for me too, Wask.

I'm in no hurry, T. Wish I were going somewhere but I'm not.

wabbit, this is why you don't get in on the "special" ;) deals floating by from time to time.

An occasional kind word and PM might yield surprising results.

Great vocals do not come from the lungs...they come from the diaphragm...volume control is achieved by the dexterity of the "belly" and not by the throat...A "lung" singer will be nearly voiceless by the end of the night vs. a Diaphragm singer who just keeps going!

Mike, that's the same thing our choir director in college tried to teach me. We used to do these exercises for it, but it usually led to laughing, guys belching and other assorted goofing off.
