2. Make it glossy (oh and the headstock). |

Location: Tennessee | I dunno. My favorite Ovation necks are the natural hand rubbed oiled necks. They are the smoothest, fastest, and just plain feel best. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I don't care for the gloss neck personally, because my hand tends to squeak against the gloss finish, causing unwanted noise and slowing my hand down. Maybe it's just me, but there's my opinion. As far as it "looking better" ... The only person that will usually see the back of the neck is the player. (I know, I know, the headstock does show up) As an artist and painter(degree in art)I can tell you that the more gloss finish you have on an object, the more it actually "diffuses" the color underneath. That's because the reflection caused by the gloss effect competes with the color of the object underneath. There ... put that in your pipe and smoke it (for all its worth)(; |

Now if ya paint and clear coat a guitar, then go fer it... |

It has to go back for a NOS top.
I'm not a huge fan of the natural finish on the neck so.... |

I'm not a huge fan of the natural finish on the neck so.... Look at Dave's FD-14. It's glossed. I love the gloss neck on the 1719-30CM. If you aren't happy with the FD-14's neck, get it glossed. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | My FD14 was actually glossed TWICE. FedEx loves me. I hated the looks and feel of the bare wood since day 1. First I just had the face of the headstock glossed. Guitar looked great but still gave ne splinters. |

I hated whatever the finish was.
It wasn't oil dull flat.

Now its perfect.
I like the feel of the gloss neck in my hand |
