Location: Copenhagen Denmark | When ya say PARLOR , do ya mean like a TERTZ ( G ) ? .. tuning G C F Bb D G .. ?
And why would n`t it work .. ?.. , would certainly be interesting , after all , there`s a great deal of music written for the TERZ , it was a rather popular instrument at the beginning of 1900 `s .
I wonder if " Silent night " was composed for it , not sure , all I remember is that it was composed for guitar , but the TERZ was popular around that time.

I mean like a 97C with a custom neck and twelve strings instead of six.
Seems like it should work. |

Then I might have to find a nice 12 string neck. |

Just for discussion sake, I believe a Terz is usually tuned G-C-F-A#-D-G.
Yes, I realize this has nothing to do with creating a 12-string parlor. |

If that 97C has a regular size neck , then would twelve snares not be too close to each other .. ? .. |

Thank goodness! I was really beginning to wonder that no one saw that as a joke.
Well, I'm off to the local bar to play some Giuliani duets- using A# of course.... |

Location: New Hampsha | IMHO, I think the "parlor" size was a super opportunity that was not taken advantage of. When I noodle around, more often than not I find that I grab my parlor - it's a great size.
I had mine rebuilt in koa and love it even more.
Think of the possibilities for that size:
An "Adamas" parlor.
A 12 string parlor.
A "book elite" parlor.
more? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | There are (non ovation) parlor sized 12-strings out there. A few threads on AGF about them.
Agree about the small body being a natural "go to" instrument. Although I jettisoned my Ovation parlor long ago, I do find that I am still drawn to a few other makes that get heavy play time. |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I have on several occasions put Nashville strings on my '97 C. I think it's the best thing you can do with the guitar. It has a magical sound. The 12string idea would be similar, i think.
Morgan Monroe makes a great 12string short scale travel guitar. It comes with a preamp/eq and I played it plugged in with the band. I put a capo on the 5th fret...holy cow what a pretty sound!
So it would never be your main guitar, but for those who can drop the $$ it's a LOT of fun. |
