Location: south east Michigan | For the past 16 months I've been boasting of just how happy and content I was with my collection. No wants, no needs and nanner, nanner, nanner to all you poor saps who were wallowing in a fog of incompleteness.
Not me boy.
I had been set free and was not shy about letting everybody know it.
As they say... pride goeth before the fall.
As a favor to Aussie James I was asked to baby-sit a tobacco burst VXT for a while. I thought, GREAT! I can have a extended tryout with this thing and after a little while just let it go. That's right... just mooove it on down the road. See ya and bye bye.
In the first 8 hours I knew I was in trouble. I was falling in lust with this guitar. This guitar..... a guitar I did not really need.
Skipping over a couple days of wreched indecision and advise seeking, I asked Jim and he was kind enough to let me buy it from him.
The action on this guitar is fan-tastic!!
Ying & Yang... new school/old school
The sounds that this thing makes is amazing and interesting. I've just scratched the proverbial surface of what it can do.
IMHO... this guitar is a perfect example of Hamer engineering and build quality combined with Ovation's inovation and bang for the buck. |

Congrats on a fine guitar. And BTW, you're not planning on playing it through that Acoustisonic are you? ;) |

Location: south east Michigan | Yikes... you're right. Please don't anybody give Stephen28 my address.
I have a small Crate amp that has been gathering dust for years. First I need to get a set of stereo cables.
I don't have to worry about that slippery slope thing.
I'm very happy and content with the collection I have. I don't need or want a darn thing.
Twisted... now you'll have something else to try when you make it over. |

Anyway, be on the lookout next Weds for a large brown box. Ask Tony, Noah, or Waskel how this story usually ends......... |

Just as Cliff* advised me, the VXT does not sound as much like an unplugged acoustic guitar but more like an extremely clean electric. A plugged in Ovation w/OP-PRO does not exactly duplicate the unplugged sound but comes close enough. I think that if I mind the PA & amp settings the VXT can approximate any other plugged in acoustic plenty close enough. Of course it won't be close enough for the stove knitters but who cares.
All this talk and pics of bursts lately has had be thinking.
And seeing how damn good I look with one in my hands got me thinkin' even more.
* Cliff.... You remember him don't ya? He's the guy that brought so much fun, info, advise, an encouragement for all those years.
I miss him. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Brad, you ight recall that for whatever reason, the acoustic tone from the VXT sounds a lot more genuine in the house than it does from behind the guitar and monitor. I remember this so vividly at Amelia I with Matt Smith showing us how it is done. |
