| I can't believe anybody likes 'em let alone the majority.
The narrow slot on the ute is the best headstock, then the good old standard Ovation. |

I don't like carved bridges either. |

I don't like a lot of bling, but I do love when wood is made into beautiful things. I wouldn't want one of the foam headstocks.

A far bigger deal for me on slotted stocks is to design according to geometry 101 so that the strings don't rub on the spine or TRC. On gloss neck models take an extra 60 seconds and clean the buffing compound out of the slots.

| Back in the day I always thought the headstock on my 1624 was the coolest thing made by Ovation. |

Dave Hi Dave, is that the black stuff that looks like tempra paint in the slots? it scrapes/rubs off pretty easily, I thought it was supposed to be there, but would look much better with the gloss white underneath it showed on this one... tho it will not have aged and yellowed as the guitar has over the years..
so if I go at it with a small buffing wheel it will come right off?
thanks,
Glenn |

| Sounds like a simple case, or two, of Broccoli Envy to me.
Love those carvings. Might not own one if they did not make them that way actually.
I also know when a member is selling one in here that does "not" have the carvings I sure don't let everyone know how much I do not like the plain headstocks. But that's just me I have strange ideas sometimes. |

This is why they make so many models...something for everyone!
On the headstock question, I'm not a fan of the broccoli head, but love the slotted paddle headstock more than almost any other in the industry. |

I prefer plain guitars so I don't much care for the carved headstocks but on the other hand I've never really thought about them until this question came up.
Someone on here reduced the size of one and refinished it to one colour which was an improvement IMO; before it kinda looked like a lump of chocolate stuck to the headstock..lol |

Please help me contribute to this post by sending me any Adamas possible. It would help me to give a complete review if you could send multiple examples of carved headstocks (both wood and foam), as well as non-carved traditional styled.
Thank you all for your help. Please PM me for address.

Perhaps not the best analogy; the 911 is more than slightly unbalanced insofar as the design still suffers from trailing throttle over-steer even after many years of development by Porsche and the car is a bit of a handful at track days particularly when driven by a novice..lol |
