Location: Rhode Island | Unfortunately, it was in my van, in my driveway, after a practice late Saturday night, 6-13-09. I live in Rhode Island. I would appreciate people keeping a heads up for this. I've had the guitar for more than 20 years. It was my favorite.
• 1983 Ovation Ultra GP solid body electric (not acoustic), black, double cut-away, in a red case.
Until now I was unaware of the Josh Homme influence on these things. Sucks.
Regards,
Eric Moberg |

Sorry to hear about your loss. Those aren't very common, so hopefully it'll turn up shortly. My greatest fear would a 'trash job' for some type of spite.
Good luck! |

Unless it was targeted (fan, ex, spite, etc..), A guitar that obscure will show up as perps probably think it's just quick cash. Of course if it's an obsessed Josh Homme fan... well then there is the solace that it's being well cared for... but all kidding aside... Hope you find it. |

Eric,
I live in Ct and I am constantly scouring C.L. in New England. I'll keep an eye out.
Oh, and Welcome. Stick around, we need more New Englanders here! |

Location: Rhode Island | Thanks to everyone for their concern. I don't think it was due to spite. No one knew I had the guitar. I haven't played out with it in almost 10 years. I do believe my van was "cased." There were other valuables in there that weren't taken, including a suitcase full of cords, pedals, and mics.
Oh, and I also lost a 1977 Ibanez Artist and a Yamaha FG335 acoustic, though the Ovation is my primary concern. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | Miles/Al, is it possible to add a stolen guitars thread that sticks to the top of the list, but only contains one posting per guitar with limited information (e.g. model number, serial number, photo/description and where/when it went missing) along with how to contact the owner?
Such a thread would only be useful if people who are looking at buying see something and bother to check, so the checking needs to be quick and simple. |

In addition there are MANY lists already for stolen instruments so someone would have to know to look here.
But I have to say, eBay and in many area's Craigslist are the best bets to get rid of an item for some quick cash. |

Location: Right now? | Eric, so sorry for your loss! As the other 'guys' wrote, since it's somewhat rare, you just might find it online. Watch all the auctions, and even Google the guitar and see if it doesn't show up on some other, less-well-known auction sight. SO bummer, and the act that it was stole right out of your driveway! I hope you find it. ;( |

Location: GA USA | Eric, I don't know how useful it really is, but Stolen Guitar Registry has a database of stolen guitars. People can log in and check serial numbers of guitars they are buying too.
Good luck. That's a fine looking guitar. If it ever goes very public, or appears on Youtube, somebody here will see it. |

I missed this post earlier
I feel for you
I'd sure hate to lose mine
It's harder with these (or easier for the crook) because the serial number is just on a sticker
If it was a Les Paul you could just go buy another, not so easy in this case.
Hopefully it will surface at some stage
